New State restrictions on boots

I'm going to buy some new boots this year and in the process of looking at the weight of Lowa Tibet's online, I saw this new restriction on the Lowa website on states they can not ship too:

State Restrictions: As of 1/1/2025, boots containing PFAS cannot be sold to residents of New York, California, and Minnesota.

Not sure what other brands of boots might be affected by this new law but Lowa is a pretty popular and well made boot. Fortunately, this doesn't impact me but I thought I would mention for those it does.

Lowa uses Vibram soles. I bet it’s the chemical in them that makes them so good. Those same states are doing that to the DWR treatment in rain gear. Also taxing them on plastic grocery bags.

Instead of having state restrictions were common sense people are punished we should have a system where if you vote blue you get a big " Dumb F**K" branded on your forehead then have to have a photo I.D. to purchase. Forehead brand? no boots or whatever, no forehead brand, here you go sir is there anything else you would like? Believe it or not in my great state of Komifornia I cant even order chicken shit for fertilizer from our out of state warehouse because it's not certified cage free chicken shit.

Gore-tex has PFAS. Any boot with Gore-tex can no longer be sold/shipped to NY, CA or MN.

Birkenstock is making a water proof liner out of woven recycled seaweed and hemp. The costs will only increase by 5x as much and they won’t really repel much water, but they already have staunch support from some legit dudes.

I’m excited to see what the meticulously groomed, bearded metrosexual 3rd generation outfitter and Scameron Haines think. They’re prototyping some on private land hunts and will instagram their reviews soon.

Gore-tex seems like it's probably a rather prevalent material in a state as wet as Minnesota.

Fortunately, their governor didn't get into the Whitehouse.

I'm not totally sure how I feel about the PFAS deal. We certainly don't have a viable replacement yet, but it will be interesting to see what comes out.

I did hear some lady asking about whether her potential new shoes had "forever chemicals" while I was in an REI recently.

She sounded utterly ridiculous.

I guess I'd just buy some boots while in another state if those were what I wanted. We assume most people go to other states. Of course, you have to look at the penalties in your state for illegal boots. :D

Terrible. Patagucci about 10-15 years ago claimed no more Goretex...they had H2no...well 3 years later it was back in the line up. I would never run any boots or hardshells with out Gore. Gore has saved a few of my friends in mountains on mountaineering and climbing trips.

Put a claim on it that it causes cancer and let us choose.
