New Ruger American Gen II

Haven't scrolled all the way through this post yet to see if any one of you has bought one yet, but I got the ranch in 223 for 550. Haven't had time to shoot any yet, but it's definitely a light packable rifle and seems well made

Nice. Still debating a scope for mine coming in. I went with the 556 ranch as well

Co worker had a cva that was firing when action closed and something else weird in regards to it shooting maybe when safety was disengaged had to send it off. Just a FYI.
I checked them off the list a while ago.

Actually got to shoot my gen 2 today I only have about 70ish yards to shoot. I shot 4 5 shot groups and they were all around an inch with cheap ammo. Best group was .91 worst was 1.11 didn't have the best rest so I could probably do alot better.

Tell us what you think. how's the bolt action compared to the first generation? fit and finish?

I never had the first gen, so i can't compare, but I do like the feel of the rifle fed every time mag can be a little tough to load, but I think that will get better over time.

The magazine on the new Gen 2 Ruger American say they are AI Mags. If they are AICS compatable, MDT makes a nice 3 round flush magazine. I have a MDT 3 round Mag for my Bergara Crest and it is flush and works flawlessly. My Bergara Crest in 6.5 CM is a laser.

How's the stock rigidity? Think the forend is stiff enough for a bipod?

It's still a little flimsy, but from what I heard from others, it is more rigid than gen 1. I never owned a gen 1 so I can't compare. I am going to test with a bipod when I get a chance.

As a self proclaimed Tikka fanboy, I’m planning to pick one of these up in 6 ARC when they release them. I love the size and form factor and barrel length, just wish their ergos were improved on the buttstock.

A VG would've been huge even with the somewhat flimsy forend on these stocks.

Looks good. Does it come with multiple spacers/cheek rests? Got an 11 year old growing like a weed so want it to be flexible as he grows. Waiting on the 6ARC though.

It doesn't come with any extras, but you can remove the one on it, and it would be good for a smaller shooter. They sell shorter ones than the one on it. The spacer on it seems to be the longest one. I'm 6'1 and it fits me very well as is. My son is 9 years old and he can shoot it well with the spacer removed

Interesting they include the break as part of bbl length >20">18.7/5"

Watch the video, he has a 7-08 listed as 20" comparing to a gen 1 22" RA.

Go to 6:05 in the video posted above.
