New Powder Thrower

Dibs.

I don’t think that style of trickler is going to play nice with ball powder..
Why do you say ā€œthat style of tricklerā€ won’t work with ball? I’ve watched some videos and can’t figure out why it wouldn’t.

Isn’t it a disk like the ingenuity? Just seems like something that is made to play nice with extruded kernels but struggle with the finer ball powders.

Maybe I don’t understand a type of trickler other than a spinning tube…..I’ll do some more research.

I watched a video that compared the super trickler to a V4 for time loading 50
cases. Both were about 17min if I recall (super 30 seconds faster I think).

I use two older RCBS lites that actually do a good job (verified with FX120). Then I got a dandy trickler and a controller that runs that to within .02g. I was able to replicate 50 loads within a minute of those two units and I think more precisely too. I figure with my 200-300 rounds a year I’m probably ok.

It comes with multiple disks with different tooth sizes for different sized stick powders. Those little teeth control release of the individual kernels more precisely than a spinning tube but dont play well with ball/flake powder.

I'm currently using the AT v3 that has a more traditional spinning tube for trickling functions. Works well, this disc setup appeals for having fewer overthrows, being a c-hair faster, and hopefully requires less calibration.

So I’ve played with the Meehl trickler for a few days. Initial impressions are awesome. I have never used any of the higher end auto trickling machines so not a ton to compare it to, but it’s well thought out.

Things I like:
1) Speed. 64.5 gr of RL26 was about 8.5sec average.
2) Statistics. Not critical but it’s a neat feature to see how it’s performing.
3) Calibration modes. It auto senses powder throws and various speeds to fine tune before you start with a powder. Even a motor tuning mode that will help determine correct throw speeds.
4) initiative design/menus. Not gonna lie. I read the setup guide and thought this isn’t for me. But it was simple and frankly just worked out of the box.
5) turn key setup. It comes with everything needed and I really like the drop cup too.

Dislikes:
1) can’t use ball powder. Sadly I load about half my stuff with spherical powders. I tried it. It doesn’t like it for the fine trickle (dump trickle did well though).

I’m glad I got to mess with it a bit but plan to move it on for now. @wind gypsy gets first dibs.

Happy to answer any questions before I ship it.
