Yes, I'm a fan. Yes, I also agree with you that it would be a HUGE marketing mistake to go that route. Just my uneducated guess is that they suspended that ability while they were clearing out the stock of the NICE frame packs so that they could then transition to the new designs.

If I'm wrong I'll be the first to criticize them for the decision.

From what I was told there will not be an option to order a bag or frame separately from the website or retailers. But if in need of one or the other, call the Bozeman office.

I don't get it, I would of thought being made outside of the U.S. Would have brought the price down a bit, looks to be about 30-40 bucks cheaper.

I still may pick up a pintler, never should have dumped my longbow.

if that is indeed the case then IMO that's a pretty crappy move to pull on your existing customers who were sold on a modular system.

I agree. If you own an MR, and wanted to just buy the new frame for your existing bags to lose some weight, I would hope you would be able to. If you can't, someone there better take off the clown shoes and fix it.

Face it , MR is just another East Asian import marketing company chasing a quick buck.

You do realise the majority of the packs they make are still made in the U.S.? They are just not consumer goods.

The hunting sector is most likely small potatos compared to the rest of their products

It is disheartening to say the least though

I'm Not sure what's left of their government business but it is way down. They've chose to not compete in the American made consumer market. They wouldn't need to do away with their American made consumer line unless they foresee getting completely out of building here which is very likely.

Almost every woodland fire fighter has MR on their back

Dana stated that their gov contracts have gotten so large they cannot maintain their other lines in country, I'm not privy to their books. But obviously you are based on your statements.. Care to share with the rest of us?

I'm no businessman but if they can't handle the demand, it would be sweet if they expanded manufacturing in Bozeman and created a bunch of local jobs. It must not pencil out.

Ya who knows, I don't know about kifaru but I'm sure it's hard to find people that want to sow packs 40 hours a week and be able to pay them a decent wage.

Not to totally derail but I believe Kifaru is sewn in-house. Does anybody know where Stone Glacier/Exo/Seek Outside are sewn? I think SO is sewn in house too but could be wrong.

Pretty sure if you walked into the factory in Bozeman and told them that to theor face they wouldn't agree. They've been pretty upfront with the fact they are focusing the made in USA product lines on mil and fire. I've seen a ton of MR packs floating around the military, and doubt that will change. I'm not a fan of whatever they are doing (I wish they would actually say once and for all) with the bag and frame thing, but accusing them of chasing a quick buck isn't fair just because you don't like where the hunting line is coming from.

Seek Outside (SO) is sewn mostly in house with packs, with a couple components domestically outsourced to high quality domestic cut and sew places.
I am not standing up for MR, after all they are somewhat a competitor, but Bozeman like Grand Junction is not a large town. It's possible, there are only so many people that can or have the desire to do it well. I know from our end, we actually pay a pretty good wage and we have a very good and flexible working environment for our crew. A lot of our seamstresses are very good and have been involved in the construction outdoor gear for a long time, however, there are only so many that want to and can do it well with reasonable training.
