Been reading for a long time, but this is my first post. I have a private land hunt on a 25,000 acre ranch north of Folsom, NM this year. Hunt starts on Oct 31st. For those that have hunted this area, what kind of buck quality should I find? This is a guided hunt that the outfitter has hunted this ranch for a long time. Will Pre-rut have started by then? Hunted 2nd season in Colorado around Aguilar this past season and didn't see any sign of older deer until 14 inches of snow fell. That was a DIY hunt and my first out of state hunt. Shot a decent buck on the 7th day. Moon will be full, but hopefully the weather will be cool to cold during the hunt. If anyone has pics of deer from this area, I'd love to see them. Thanks for the info and good luck to everyone this season.

Thanks for the 1 message I received. Anybody else hunted or know about this part of NM?

Quality will be determined by the management of the ranch I seen giant bucks in less than good units in this state on private land, its hard to tell you what the quality will be like unless you talk to someone who has hunted that specific ranch.

It’s good looking country. But my gut feeling is that it was a slam dunk draw in the past for a reason As a whole.private changes that rule but also opens another ball of wax. You’ll have less areas to see if it’s not a well managed property.

57/58 tag has gone from 100% draw odds to less then 50% in 3 years tho so maybe its coming out of sleeper status.
