New Mexico unit 53

Heading out during archery first week of sept to be a pack mule for a buddy who drew a mule deer tag in 53. I plan on getting a bear tag otc. Any advice on the unit for bear? Thought I would give it a shot.

How did the deer hunt go? I have the late October rifle hunt? I have been in the unit exploring and camping but have never hunted it. Did you guys hunt high or low?

Had to cut the trip short because of a death in family so with only 3 days hunting and 2 days scouting before season. Went to the highest points and covered allot of ground seen some deer and elk but it was work. Problem is there are two ski resorts in the unit. Lots of hikers with dogs chasing those peaks too. Too many people, I would assume later in season when its out of hiking season would be better there.
