New Mexico Unit 51, elk, third season any weapon tag, is it any good?

I had a buddy back out of going. He has bad health issues.We drew the tag with an outfitter. I'm trying to figure out what to do. I hate to go across the US by myself again. Would you go by yourself? Any thoughts? Any info would be great. Is this area way overheated?

Hey man so you know. NM has a great policy on being able to transfer a tag to another person given the hunt hasn't started yet. the criteria are serious health issue, military orders or death. Check it out http://www.wildlife.state.nm.us/

Did you end up doing this hunt? If so how'd it go? I drew a muzzleloader tag for December this year for this unit.
