New Mexico price increase.

That's inflation. Meh, that sucks, but wont' stop most people.

For antelope since most of those are on private land, it's more of a tax on those that are booking guided hands. I don't feel as though that is unfair.

Elk is kind of tax on everyone, at least it is more fair.

What they should do is 50% price increase on guided draw tags.

Or, and hear me out, eliminate the outfitter welfare tags completely!
Already have the Eplus system for guys that want to spend big money and probably more inclined to go outfitted anyway.

I like it but never going to happen. The outfitter welfare in New Mexico is crazy strong. They would be more likely to move all nonresident tags to the outfitter pool then vice versa.

Not in the same universe as the new Utah price caps.

I was genuinely shocked when I saw the numbers. I guess we really have begun to enter the era of what used to be regular tags being out of reach for the average guy. I get that a regular guy CAN budget, save, etc ect and still do those hunts. But that doesn’t mean it’s financially wise/smart. If I have to bend my family financials into knots in order to but a tag, I probably can’t afford it…

I had a feeling that demand is going to wane with inflation and harder times but with how hard to get and expensive tags are getting in certain states that might just push more people into the sates that aren't completely insane and keep demand just as high.
Most likely scenario, until those states catch on and follow suit…

Demand for tags won't change. Number of tags given will only change based on harvest and winter count surveys; not because they can't print them fast enough, the price of paper skyrockets, or the maintenance fees for the website go berserk.

The interest in applying, however, may certainly decrease.
