New KUIU

First... I pre-ordered this stuff just to see, because I want them to work.

However; If it is supposed to be a warm weather hunting garmet, using merino underneath it kind of defeats the purpose, for me... I sure hope these garmets do not stink after working up a sweat because I am in need of something to stalk pronghorn in that is very breathable.

Merino works well for hot weather. It wicks away moisture from you and it doesn't stink like other moisture wicking fabrics.

What would be the point of using two layers for hot weather pants?.....Merino Pants will never be as durable as synthetic pants. There's always a trade off.

I own an entire closet of merino wool... I understand :)

With that, two layers of anything in warm weather is ridiculous. I will try them, I hope they work great, if not, back to just using what I know works... Merino.

I have to say I have found their lightest merino pretty good here in Aust during temps of around 30 degrees Celsius, whatever that is in the old scale.

Perhaps it is better suited than the new fabric??

Thanks for the mention Patrick.

Nick, from my experience, merino wool base layers that thin combined with a thin outer layer should be fine for those temps during antelope. Unless its super hot of course.

I wore a light t-shirt weight fleece over my merino tops and bottoms last season in 90 degree August temps and I was amazed how I did not overheat.

It should only get better with the Tiburon's due to their much better breathability compared to fleece.

I'll be wearing both mid August for the Colorado antelope opener.

Good luck.

thats crazy! you must run cooler than me, i cut the sleeves off my 185zip as it was too hot for sept mule deer. my ascent pants are also shorts now but thats another story

I think it also depends on where you hunt. I have holes in every piece of merino I run. I hunt in some strait up shit holes. I have a couple old sitka long sleeve poly zip tees that I wear when I know that I'm headed into the shit. I'm also to fat to run any extra clothing in September. I wake up sweating:)

@fillthefreezer - It may have been due to the super thin outer layer I wore. A local Colorado company, Day One Camo, makes a t-shirt thin light fleece for tops and bottoms.

Don't get me wrong, I sweat too in that kind of heat but the lightweight merino sucks up the moisture and stink really well for me. The outer layer as a result remained dry and stink free.

When covering long distances, yeah, I shed the fleece just to not unnecessarily overheat.

Our costal deer season starts the second weekend of July here in CA (95-100 degrees). I just saw this new stuff and will give it a go. Will also use it for the Rubies in Aug. I hope this stuff holds up, because we have some areas that I hunt hogs in that area as nasty as thick oak brush. Hope it holds up, because this stuff ain't cheep.

I plan to run a merino top and try out the new pant. I cant run merino bottoms and the attack pant can still be hot.

I did order the new top just to see what its like. I assume it wont shed the smell like merino

I see that I got an order confirmation yesterday afternoon on the Tiburon.:) Someone is going to get their hands on this stuff soon and it won't be me as shipping time is longer to Iowa.:( No shipping notice yet. I'm guessing that will be today or tomorrow.

We got charged on the credit card for 1850 day packs and the heat gear. Tried to back out of the heat gear and see some review first but the said it was to late so here it comes. Very excited for the pack.

Sweet. Shipping notice just received. My package is coming USPS and that beats UPS by days. Probably won't be here until early next week. Betting someone my have in hand by tomorrow.

what?!? No email for me yet... Will have to see if it comes through soon. Might have to cancel my pre-order for the bino harness and yukon gaiters to have my Tiburon stuff shipped anytime soon...

Juan, your Tiburon will ship well before the Bino Harness even if both are on preorder. And you won't have to wait too long for the Yukon Gaiters either.

Also, jquarnberg, you should be glad you didn't drop your Tiburon preorder to wait on reviews. It is a very sound product and material, which you shall soon find out!

The material is quieter and feels much more durable than I would have thought by looking at the initial photos and description. You cannot actually see the Micro Dots from the outside like some of the cheaper hot weather fabrics out there. They can only really be seen by holding the garment up to the light and looking from the back side (inside) of the fabric. If you slide your hand inside and blow on it, you can actually feel the breeze coming through. It's an incredibly supple and quiet material as well with what I think is the perfect amount of stretch. Keep in mind the Tiburon is a two way stretch fabric, unlike the four-way stretch seen in the Attacks, Guide and Yukon lines. Still, the two way stretch Dot Air fabric allows plenty of give when squatting down or bending the elbow. Just as a disclaimer I do in fact work for KUIU, but like I said you will soon be able to verify my observations with your own as soon as you get your Tiburon gear.

The gray package arrived. Tried on a top and a pair of pants. Feels like I am wearing P.J.s. Lightweight and comfortable. Would love to see what they can do, but only 61 degrees, overcast and rain on the way.:( I'm waiting for a warmer day (and so are the farmers around here) to put them through the paces. Curious to see what everyone else thinks. Definitely different than the Attack pants and merino tops. If they are durable, should be a great option for warm weather.
