Why does a month have to last for 30 days??????

Sweet looking rig.

Should require a few days at the range just to get comfortable. Tell the boss that you NEED some time off.

I am married and have six year old twins. Yes I am the boss or I wouldn't have all of these!!!
With many more to come.
California Tule Elk this year along with Mexico Desert sheep and possibly mule deer.

Are you married? If so, I'm guessing that you're not the boss. Anyway, that is a very nice rifle you got there, congrats.

Looks like you have a real nice wife, her letting you go and do all of those trips like that. Hell, she even lets you think you're the boss. Heck of a woman. Oh and nice rifle too.

Very nice setup and you will love those 215's. Deadly.
Looking at that rifle makes my wallet hurt;)

Yep. Love the 215 Hybrids. I killed the mountain goat and Columbia Blacktail with them last year in another 300 Win. Very impresive. Although Berger bullets are all I have used for the last 7-8 years and have killed most of those critters in that picture with Berger.

Interested in what velocity the 22" barrel might sling those 215s! So your back to gunwerks now? Keeping the MOA?

Yes. Back to Gunwerks. They contacted me and made good on a bad situation. I did sell my MOA rifle. I have nothing bad to say about Bob Beck but I do prefer Gunwerks rifles over MOA. Just personal preference.

Im curious as well. Looks like a similar style to my 300winmag with a 26in barrel. Ive shoot mine out to 1200yds almost every weekend. Using the 210 berger VLDs. With a 22in barrel I'm sure id be giving up some serious MV, even with my suppressor on. What distances do you plan on shooting game at? And why did you go with such a short barrel? Just to save weight?

Being from Indiana our state just started allowing HP rifles this year. We are restricted to only .243 and .308 based calibers. Stupid rule I know. This rifle seemed to fit my needs of hunting hardwoods here with possible long shots on corn and bean fields as well as take care of any of my big game needs. I am confident in killing game out to about 700 yards and this rifle should have no issues doing so even with the little lower velocity with the shorter bbl.

I'm sure hes going to be happy with the rifle. Its going to kill well. My point is that to really take advantage of the high BC on the particular Berger he wants to shoot you need to be shooting past 600yds. These VLD and Hybrid bullets don't really stabilize and shine until you are getting "out there". Inside of that the BC of that bullet isnt going to matter as much (as compared to a lighter 30cal bullet with a lower BC). And when your shooting game at 600yds+ you want to be delivering ethical amounts of kinetic energy. Which I think would be impacted by a short barrel and heavy bullets. To take complete advantage of that high BC you need to be shooting them fast and at distances where the BC makes a difference.

I always try to match my barrel length, twist rate, and bullet weight to the distances and size of game that I would be hunting. For inside of 600yds a 22in barrel with a slower twist rate could really push lighter bullets fast and hard with less bullet drop. And deliver devastating effects on game. We hammer white tail deer here in PA with short barrel 300WSM's with 1:13 twists and 150g Gamekings going 3500fps. Talk about "planting them"...

This is splitting hairs here. And just my opinion and experience. There are lots of benefits to short barrels, and I do like them. Definitely makes walking through the woods easier. And saves weight. Easier to handle as well. Cant wait to see how your gun shoots. And the stuff you hunt with it. I could only dream of the hunts you've done.
