Just got the new small belt from 1shotgear, and it takes me like 4-5 really hard pulls for the belt to catch when cinching tight. Today was the second time I used it and had a really hard time cinching tight. What am I doing wrong? Has this happened to anyone else?

Nothing, every Kifaru I have had has done this, they need to break in. Doesn't usually take long to break in.

I have this issue as well. I have/had a video of it but I think that's gone now. Anyway, I basically have to pull up on the center buckle a little as I'm pulling the power pull with the other hand and this relieves the pressure. Basically, top strap (furthest from me) moves when I pull the power pull but it's not actually feeding through the buckle. Lifting up on the edge of the buckle allows it to feed through. It's annoying but tolerable. Just makes it difficult to impossible to tighten uniformly.

My experience with the Kifaru Belt is that if you cant get it to cinch down and it slips its because the belt is the wrong size and the padding is not wrapping completely around your hip bone. Maudiver I know you just went from a med to a small belt I bet the small is to small and you need the medium or a smedium if you are bottoming out the Medium but the small is slipping. I have this same issue but with a med and large range. Id hit up Kifaru and chat with them about it. us 38-40 waist guys have the same issue so Kifaru came up with a Belt size Marge for us. Me, Billbrown and a few others have been through this ordeal. We bottom out the large but the medium slips and is hard to tighten down on the medium if you pull just right sometimes you can get it to not slip and be cinched down but its a pain. So Kifaru came up with a size MARGE. maybe they can do the same for you as it sounds exactly like the issue we suffer from.

Regards.

Kifaru eliminated this by adding double plastic rings to the power pulls. Then they stopped? It made the power pulls instantly catch.

My old duplex and new hunting duplex belts both slip. Delta straps not connected either. Sometimes it will catch on the new frame, and other times it just won't.

That's the issue I'm having. I have a little slipping over time which I believe is expected but compounded by it being such a hassle to tighten. I wonder if the webbing loosening up will help. Also Maui, I remember reading on the Kifaru forums that people were having slipping issues with the arrow stays.

I have experienced exactly what the colonel has shown in the videos above. After going to a larger belt the issue went away. Only thing I can imagine is the smaller belt wasn't able to "slide and catch" because it was too small for me.

I put them on Youtube. Is this what you are experiencing mauidiver?

Regarding the double plastic rings, I'm not sure how another ring will help. At least with the issue I've experienced, the belt is not feeding through the buckle. It doesn't have any issue where the plastic ring is on the padded belt side.

Bingo. This is a miss sized Belt go to a larger Belt where the pad wraps your hips better and it will not do what Brad posted in his videos. I just ordered a size large belt from Kifaru and it cinched down perfect. If I tried the Medium it slipped.

Interesting. When I originally was having this issue, year and a half to two years ago, there wasn't a mention of a Marge size. I tried a Large belt but it bottomed out quickly. In my current chubby state, the medium is tolerable and I was always afraid that if I dropped some weight on the hunt, I would bottom out anything larger than the medium. I guess I'll have to check into this Marge option. That or just get off my ass an drop some lbs :D

YUP!! This is what happens exactly. Sometimes one will catch, but the other does not. So I got to loosen again and go through the frustrating process again. So with just getting the small belt after bottoming out with the MED size, the SM seems like a better fit under over 50lbs except the slipping every single time. Have not had a chancr to call office yet, work is crazy today. Would sure like this resolved before my trip on the 10th. Ill try and call after work in few hours.

Hey Guys,

This is Frank from Kifaru customer service. Aron is out on another sheep hunting adventure, he will comment on this subject when he is back in cell service.

Colonel's video shows a common cause of the belts not cinching down or catching. As you can see in the video, the straps are traveling through the large common loop on the belt however the straps are not tightening through the slots on the buckles themselves. Two of the main reasons this happens is either there is clothing that is getting caught in the buckle slots preventing it to properly tighten or the user needs larger belt. As Colonel did in the video, you can pull forward on either end of the buckle while pulling the straps to make sure the straps are properly feeding through the buckle to assist them with catching.

Though the majority of folks will fit into our small, medium, or large belts, we can also make in-between sizes (shmedium and marge) if needed.

Feel free to reach out to me with any further questions, I'll be happy to help while Aron is away.
