Are you on John's waiting list?
Not yet, I’ll be looking at another pup in 2024 or 2025. Im also interested in another Wisconsin WPG kennel. Also may go with another GWP. Have a little time to decide but need to get on a list in the next year or so.

Why the secrecy about the WI super special kennel? If they’re that good why not drop the name?
There's a secret handshake you have to know to get the info. You obviously don't have it.

Don’t have the secret hand shake. Here’s canyon pedigree. I just know he’s good enough for me. Lol. BD32D0B6-308D-4465-812A-881562F0DDB4.jpeg

Figured instead of making a new thread I would just add to this one.

On our way to pick up our 2nd Griff today. Breeder was nice enough to cut our 14 hour drive in half by meeting us which is a very big plus.

The second pup has been very expensive. Had to get a truck, truck cap, two kennels for the truck bed, 2nd gps collar... going to build a shelf system next spring.

I will post pictures once we pick our new pup. It’s going to be a fun day!

Nice! That's exciting. I wish I had all that stuff. I'm working on a way to build a platform to sleep in my CRV.

I have been doing it all in Crosstrek and a tent for the last six years so I am right there with you. I figured once we got the truck I would just do it ‘right’ and I feel very lucky to spoil myself aka my dogs with the truck and everything else. My wife is very understanding to say the least...

Here he is. He was very good on our drive home and settled in his kennel fairy quickly after bathroom breaks.

Good looking pup.

One of mine is especially shaggy. Great dog and wouldn't trade him for the world but a comb and some time are necessary after most hunts.

I know it breaks the rules with our Griffs, but when my golden was still hunting I shaved him pretty close every year before hunting season. Looked more like a red lab before it grew out after hunting season. That soft hair grabbed ever cocklebur, burdock, preacher's lice, you name it... Still had some combing out to do, but it helped dramatically. I had problems with preacher's lice getting matted up in Oscar's face when he was a pup. I was able to comb it out, but quite a bit of hair came with it. The white blaze he had on his snout never did come back.

My pastor would shave his previous griff every summer but he blew his coat out doing it. When he'd grow out in the fall he'd be as wooly as a poodle, no silver guard hairs left. I helped him aquire his newest dog (got the church together to buy it for him) and had to get his wife onboard to keep him from blowing this one's coat. He's hard headed as heck and without her support, he wouldn't have listened to me and would have a poodle again. :)

Roger that man, I love the griff breed standard (disheveled and unkempt 😆) and know of folks that never strip or brush their dogs at all. I strip Oscar occasionally, maybe once a month, just in spots that don’t don’t look the same as the rest of his coat. In general his coat is pretty flat and harsh.

I need to strip Finn much more often than I do.

Murphy is loving life and is an affectionate little guy. Our older Griff and Jack Russell have not been been very accepting but I’m not surprised. Good news is that the pup already stands up for himself if they try to get too serious with him.

I have never figured out a way to introduce a new dog in the house and have it be a fun time for all involved.
