Hey Everyone, Decided to join to broaden my horizons on hunting and learning about the animals out west! Anyway I live up in Northern Minnesota. Its a good place to live if you like to hunt and fish and anything outdoors for that matter. I love to bowhunt and would rather have a bow in my and then a rifle, Buts its always nice to reach out and touch them haha. I am trying to start making trips out west to hunt Mule deer and elk. Just need to get a couple buddies on board to make the trips with me instead of me going by myself.

Thanks for having Me,

John

Hi from Blaine John. Northern MN is a fantastic place to be and if it wasnt for the dang wolves it was a great place to big game hunt too. I would love to see the moose and deer populations come back! What city are you in or closes to?

Hi Strut, Im west of Duluth by About 45 miles. The wolves are horrible up by me. A lot of cattle and deer kills this year. My buddy runs cattle right next door and then moves them back to his fathers during the winter. It seems as soon as he relocates the cattle the wolves leave and then make their rounds every 3 weeks. We did pretty well deer hunting this year though. My brother shot a nice 10 point that scored 156 and dressed 225. My dad killed a old 8 point that has had the same rack for 2 years and dressed 200, both rifle kills. I only saw 5 deer from start of bowhunting to end of rifle. The herd is definitely way smaller then usual. If we have another mild winter that will sure help.

Welcome from a Minnesota native and former resident!

I went to college in Duluth, so not too far from you at all.

Cool areas up your way. I have two sisters living in Duluth and I used to hunt the Moose Lake area. Like you it gets old looking at trees and squirrels and no deer. The icing on the cake is when we were bear hunting up there and seen a big cat. Its not bad enough there is too many wolves but cougars too? Eventually I converted over to hunting WI. For some reason they know how to manager their herds better. Grouse hunting and fishing were probably good your way this year. Its about all we have to look forward to anymore.

Yea the bear hunting is pretty good up here. This fall it was brutal. Only heard about one little 150 pounder getting killed. Two years a go a neighbor killed one that went 530 and a guy hunting around my area killed a 570. Only thing that sucks is tag draw for this unit i live in is about 1 in 4 years and I should draw next year. The grouse hunting is pretty good around my area as well. The deer up here definitely have every thing against them compared to other midwest states.
