New from Az

Howdy,

Finally drew an archery elk tag in Az. I've been hunting since a kid and ultralight (relative term) backpacking since getting outta the navy. Fly fish and hunt birds in tough country all over the West, but this'll be my first backcountry hunt. Whitetail back in Wisco doesn't qualify for backcountry. Looking to sharpen my knowledge on packing efficiently for the hunt and then moving efficiently once in the field.

What part of AZ are you in? I have an elk tag also, either the late 9 archery tag or 10 muzzle loader.

Weston, I'm in Phoenix and I drew an early archery tag in 1. Luckily I've spent a fair bit of time fishing some of the remote creeks up there and hunting grouse in the fall so I'm familiar with the area and terrain. Fishing trips will just become scouting trips this year. Congratulations on pulling a tag yourself.
