Hey Aron was putting my order together high camp bag bikini frame 7000 2 med pockets and 2 small pockets do you think that the compression straps on the side will hold a scope and tripod secure. Sorry for all the questions but pack is a lot of money and want to do it right the first time.i have had a few different packs over the last few years can't afford any more redos

For you guys wanting a different color bag, just get the DT bag, and hack off the items you don't want on it and you'll have it close to the weight of the high camp. My DT1 bag without snow collar, divider, hydration sleeve, and common loops comes in right at 2 lbs 9 oz's and that includes the pockets on the back and the side. So if you get a high camp, and add pockets, itll be about the same weight. Only thing different will be the bottom opening, and the K-hooks along with the roll top feature. Although I'm thinking about sending my bag to kifaru and having them sew 2 female buckles onto my Dt1 bag so I Can make it roll top!

this is exactly what i had in mind accept i know a seamstress that will be more than happy to sew on a couple buckles for me. i was going to ask Kifaru to send a couple extra buckles with the pack.

Buy a Bikini Frame pack and buy a Hills People Gear UltraLight bag. Not exactly a Kifaru Ultralight but a very high quality bag at extremely affordable prices.

That setup... a Bikini Duplex, HPG S25M, KU E&E & KU Belt Pouch would be around 3lbs 7oz? That's light! Coming in close to a pound lighter, but probably short on cubes, compared to a HC 4800 with no extra pockets...

I think this is the route I'm going

My thoughts exactly, am going to turn the top of my DT1 into a roll top as well as trim it down, snow collar, divider, hydration bladder. also thinking about going ahead and removing the two back pockets then sewing on the webbing like the high camp bag has in their place so as to still be able to attatch a couple of KU pockets if I need to.

That's what I already did this week with my G1 Longhunter. I had a boat canvas shop sew in a couple loops on the top of the bag on either side and use the detachable female buckles to make a roll-top. After cutting out the divider out of the bag and the waist belt out of the Longhunter lid I came in at 2 lbs. 11 oz. for 6200 ci. (5200/bag - 1000/lid).

The Coyote is fine with me. My pack is usually behind me anyway and with some blood splotches the solid brown will soon get broken up.

nice, I am thinking that it would be worth it to get a couple of K buckles as well just since they would probably lay a little flatter to the bag

I might just have to swing by a seamstress and have her do it for me that way I won't have to ship the pack! Good Idea! For me, I use those pockets on the back always, so if I even went with a high camp I would add the pockets. It was a no brainer for me to stay with the DT1 bag and just swap in a bikini frame. Now I'm even thinking about keeping my duplex frame just for heavy weight off season training since the damn thing can hold 300 lbs all day!

Ya, I would agree with you on the back pockets but keeping the side pockets makes sense to me for my tripod and spotting scope but as I will have my bow on the back quite a bit in the dark or on the pack in I am thinking it would be nice just to be able to cut them off then sew on the webbing so I can use them or not depending on what I am doing.
I also have a HPG S25 bag as well that will attatch to the bikini frame and am able to atatch two KU long pockets (one to each side) for a really lightweight scouting pack that I could also still pack considerable weight on such as shed hunting trips.

I like that hill people gear bag. That looks like a great idea for a scouting/shed hunting set up for sure.

It is not Quite a KU but it is very well made and well designed. it is designed as a wear out item and only weighs 7 oz, I would not use it when I am packed in and hunting but it sure works nice for those quick scouting trips that you want to go as light and fast as possible... especially if you attatch a couple KU long pockets one to each side for your spotter and tripod. a belt pouch also helps for your little stuff.
I sure is good to see us come back around to a modular pack system and is nice to see the people at Kifaru design such a good system once again! I am thinking that with the DT1 bag trimmed down on the Bikini Duplex frame it will probably become my one and only go to pack for everything now.

???????

The website picture doesn't show the frame very well. Could you post up a picture that shows where and what attachment points (loops, webbing, etc..) the frame has for pocket, pods, compression panels and bags?

Does the belt have the power pull feature?

If the pack is stuffed and completely open (like the pic on Kifaru), what are the measurements in length, width, and height?
