I would recommend a stove that has a pressure regulator for cold temps. I have a Jetboil Zip and this fall temps dropped enough to where the stove wouldnt function. I have used an MSR Reactor and a Jetboil Minimo and liked both.
It was likely that the fuel froze.

However, there are faster more efficient stoves than Jetboil now.

I spent a few hours today, playing around with stoves, pots, etc. I moved some stuff around and came up with my cook kit set ups for this year. My new ultra light set up is a MBD Elite alcohol stove with an old Primus ti pot that is an MSR Titan clone. My primary hunting set is back to a Soto Windmaster in a MSR Titan kettle. I take my MSR Reactor if it is going to be wet, windy, cold and/or I plan on eating straight out of the bags. A great winter stove is the Kovea Spider. You can turn the canister upside down and its good into the single digits. I have an older Optimus Nova liquid fuel stove but seldom use it.

The Jetboil Flash and MSR Pocket Rocket 2 are my favorites. I actually find myself liking the Pocket Rocket 2 a little more at times due to just the size of it and how simple it is. I primarily only use both to boil water, so not super extensive use but neither have failed me.

Soto Windmaster with various pots. Gives me flexibility on different pot volumes if I'm alone or with hunting buddies or kids. The Soto has been great through lots of different altitudes and weather. Biggest problem is fuel canister being really cold, but I always throw mine in my sleeping bag. I've been using the Optimus Terra HE (family backpacking) and Crux HE (solo) pots depending on how many I'm cooking for. They have the heat fins and seem incredibly efficient with the Soto, but definitely not the lightest option. The idea is maybe I can bring less fuel???
