80# limbs blacked out. I'm figuring this bow is so awesome deer are just going to jump on my arrows. My MR5 wasn't awesome enough and the deer wouldn't even walk in front of it and let me shoot them. So an upgrade was in order. Technically I bought it in 2013 but I'm going to count it on 2014's tab lol.

Going to run a Hogg father single pin. Not sure what rest yet. I am leaning towards a cable driven rest. Like the TT smack down

I wouldn't mind hearing your guys opinions on rest. Anything new that you guys think is worth a look?

Without pics........this thread is almost worthless.:)

As for the Versa Rest.......I had one and got rid of it. At this moment I can't remember exactly what I didn't like about it, but I'm thinking it had something to do with the way I had it set up (limb driven). For whatever reason I've had a lot of issues with limb driven rests.......might be the 32 1/2" draw.........don't know. IIRC I couldn't get the limb connection to stay put no matter how tight it was. I should have tried it tied into the cable........but didn't.

On the Hamskea limb connection there's tape that helps the connection stay put but you've got to peel the red cover off. Once that's done it won't move but you do have to check the Allen screws occasionally since they do come loose. I've got a long draw but not nearly as long as yours and mine works well.

I've found the Versa Rest extremely easy to set up and adjust and once everything is in place it all stays put because the rest is built like a tank.

i am digging my new Axion Pulse rest. it is fast! and so easy to set up. i have it tied to my up cable using the "football". i served above the attachment point so nothing can slip/move. i will probably tie it onto the cable using half of a D-loop knot at the same serving loop.

i love how it is cocked and ready to go all the time. loading the arrow is a bit of a learning curve for me since this is my first limb-driven type of rest. i have to thread it thru the rest fingers, and i am LOUD! my wrist release clanks on the bowstring, my arrow clanks on the riser. i need to get more used to it. and put some black insulation mole skin in some strategic locations on the riser. i might take off the containment arm as well. i cant see EVER needing it. i dont hunt in a tree stand.

8 week wait for a bow!? Dang...

I hated the versa rest, it litterally fell apart midway through a 40 target 3D shoot... Switched to a different rest and love it.

I got to shoot the carbon spider turbo last week when the rep was in town. I absolutely love that bow smooth to draw and solid wall. It was locked down at 73 pounds. It's all I can do not to order one till after January so I can see what else is new. Shot all the new Hoyt's side by side and I would take the turbo over any of them.

I hear the Hoyt's pull pretty smooth. My MR5 wasn't hard for me to pull at 70# but I have been told it has a harsh pull. I can't never really tell the difference between bows I shoot. I just yank them back tell they stop....

I've had the best luck tuning newer Hoyts with the AAE pro drop rest and I have tried a bunch! It's a limb driven rest, but it acts like a sprung rest so it can absorb oscillations of the arrow before it gets pulled down out of the way. It's far easier to tune than rests that are static before they drop. Definitely worth consideration. I've had zero issues with it. It also uses a urethane coated steel cable that wont stretch, get soggy or fray in the thick brush.

I have a Ripcord SOS on my Elite that I have been happy with.

If I can get it to shoot fixed blades, it has got to be an easy rest to work with.

I shot this bow and the Facktor for nearly two hours last week. How do you guys get over the "popping" sound the Carbon Spyder makes when you release? There is no way I could do it...

Do the 2013's (Carbon Element) make the same noise?

I am looking to put together a very lightweight/accurate bow for next year, but I also want it to be as quiet. The new Hoyts just don't do it for me...

I will say that with just a "shop" sight and a Whisker Biscuit on the Carbon Spyder, it was a tack driver and I wasn't even really doing my best. So it is an accurate bow, that's for sure.

I wasn't overly impressed with the draw cycle and rock hard back wall, but that's just because I am so used to my current set up.
