What’s up everybody? I’ve been lurking around reading for a while and figured I’d make an account and ask a question to get some opinions and help. I’ve got a few different cans already but mainly I’m looking for some opinions on a UL hunting can along with a decently lightweight range can I can take hunting when length isn’t an issue. Virginia is probably gonna go crazy with laws after the recent election and I wanna get some toys in the queue sooner rather than later.

I have an Ultra 7, Energetic Lux, Vox and Arx, DD wolfhunter, some Rex cans and a plethora of rim fire options.

I’d like to add 1or 2 or 3 precision Ti cans. One for hunting that’s shorter than the ultra 7 and lux, and one for range play that I can use hunting if length isn’t a concern. I’m not interested in any reflex/over the barrel options just bc of my current mount situation.

I’m looking at the DD Enticer STI and LTI, the Unknown Munitions Reaper, and the Airlock ZG line in no particular order or preference. Is the LTI worth the extra length over the STI? How’s the STI compare to the Reaper or zero g? Should I get both DD cans and then pick between the Reaper and zero g? Gimme some ideas and thoughts!!

Sorry for the long post and these would mostly be used on 20-22” 6.8-30 cal magnums, maybe the occasional 16” 308.

I live near Charlottesville. If you want to come check out some of the suppressors I use, drop me a PM. I’m planning on inviting some folks over to RRPC once my ZG 6.5 is out of jail.

I also drive down to Tazewell County fairly often. In fact, I am on my way there right now.

I have a ZG 6.5 in jail. I also have an OG, OG 6.5, Raptor 8, Raptor 10, Scythe Ti (avoid that one), and a Griffin .223 can.

Awesome!! I don’t know when I’ll be up that way again, I live towards the SE corner near Suffolk but I’ve got a cabin up in Madison county. Any chance you’ve shot the airlock yet?

No, the Airlock is still in jail. I’ll put up some stuff about it once I shoot it.

As far as full-sized (6”+) cans are concerned, I think the Reaper is the pick of the litter, but based on raw numbers and user reports, it would also be hard to go wrong with a Nomad Ti XC, TBAC Ultra 7, Raptor 8, etc.

I won't repeat what's already been said for the lighter weight cans but I noticed you mentioned one for range and or where length doesn't matter. For that Id for sure recommend the Hyperion. I have a few of the ones mentioned and others that are similar. From what Ive seen/heard between mine my families and friends is the 6"-7" 8-13 ounce cans are more alike than different. The OG may not be hardly as quiet but only adds 4". The scythe might be more quiet but could possibly blow up...grin. The Hyperion Ive used belongs to a friend and its the only one I can tell a clear noticeable difference in. I can tell it's quieter and on chaberings that have a little more recoil to them I can tell it reduces it better. It's long and heavy compared to some but reduces sound and recoil the best too. Others in that size/weight range might do the same? This just my opinion or observation from shooting them a good bit.

I hadn’t thought about it from that point. If it’s just a range toy I reckon 4-5 oz truly isn’t a factor. Although at that point I’d probably pick up a TBAC magnus hub mount to go with the ultra 7. I’ve looked at the Hydrogen L, but not so sure it’s worth the extra money over the enticer line up(although it looks like Hansohn Bros. Has them on sale currently).

I have a TBAC Magnus and an Otter Creek Hydrogen L. I also have some smaller cans. But I prefer the bigger cans for maximum suppression. I like the quietness and the recoil reduction that the bigger suppressor provides. The TBAC Magnus is my favorite. Has the best tone to me and I can use it on every gun I own.

I'm new to suppressors, but my first and only one is the Nomad TiXC. I've been really impressed with it. Planning on picking up one of the lighter, smaller titanium 6mm offerings in the new year. Likely either the US 666 or the Airlock 6mm that's coming next spring.

The ti xc was another one I was considering. For a 6mm can the diligent defense wolf hunter is a pretty sweet sounding rig on bolts guns. It’s a couple ounces heavier and an inch or so longer but it’s priced right and sounds good. The weight of the airlocks is so interesting though!!

How does the ti xc sound compared to lets says the ultra 7? If given the choice, would you run the ti xc on a range day or something with more suppression like a TBAC magnus or something along those lines?

When considering the acquisition of multiple suppressors, I prefer to think the each suppressor is “assigned” to specific rifle(s). As opposed to using one suppressor at the range and then a different suppressor while hunting.

I wouldn’t want to deal with different POI, possibly different handling characteristics, and just generally shooting my hunting rifle in a non-hunting configuration.

I don’t own the ti xc, but by all accounts it seems to be near the top of the options for a general purpose hunting suppressor.

I generally follow the same principle. Obviously there’s no one can that’s the end all be all, so for me if I’m gonna shoot a 30-50 round session with my hunting rig I’ll switch out cans to something more pleasurable on the ears then re-zero if needed. I try to have each rifle set up with its own can which works great most of the time, but i end up with a significantly quieter can that I rotate around if I’m doing an extensive amount of shooting.

The more I look, the more I like the US reaper and the ti xc. I reckon I’ll have to wait for Team4longuns shootout to make a decision.

I don’t see why one would want to swap out suppressors. Likely going to have a slight zero shift, and you still have a sonic crack, so it’s not going to be a no ear pro shooting session. Most suppressors being talked about here sound really really good with ear plugs or muffs on.

If I was getting another as a range toy I would buy one that has or can screw a decent brake on.

Beyond shooting prairie dogs I don’t really have a use case for my Magnus. Sure it’s quiet and fun to shoot but you’re still dealing with the sonic crack.
