New Binos from Leica

I mean, they gotta offer a 10x32 as well, right?

If so, that would be a "Take my money!" scenario for me...

I have 10x42 geovids and 10x42 ultravids. Side by side there is no comparison. So much so that I often choose the ultras 99% of the time. When the geovids go black I can still see with the ultras. My point- please make a rangefinder bino with premium glass so I don’t have to carry two boat anchors. There is a reason I have 4 pair of Leica. Because they don’t make one that does everything I need lol. Or maybe it’s by design 🤔
Damn you Leica. There goes another $2,500

10x32 is probably the worst selling configuration made is why they'll never have a bino/rf unit like that.

I personally dont get the hate for the 10x32's.

Especially in this case, with how huge the current and previous gen Geovid's are, these X32 versions are going to the perfect size.

Almost all X32 bins suffer at that last bit of light as compared to the 42 and 50

Some suffer from eye placement and blackouts.

But generally, I find a good 10x32 to do just about everything a 10x42 will do for me. And if these are the same way, and add in the RF capability in a smaller package...

Mhopper what model Geovids do you have? Funny how different peoples eyes are, I have both 8 year old Geovid HD-R's and new 2700 HD-R's and both do quite well in low light for me, even when compared to my Swaro SV 8.5x42's.

Until they improve the coatings, RF binos won’t equal their non-RF counterparts with otherwise equal glass. I could like an 8x32. I sure do like my Swaro 8x30 CLs.

Believe the issue is the coatings won’t work with a RF or this would already be out there.

Yeah i found my hd-b 2200’s very similar to the SV 10x42 swaros I had prior, the swaros were better but barely for my eyes.

I have the hd-b 2700

Have you looked through ultravids in the same light?

This is going to sound silly to some but I’m willing to show anyone interested. At a considerable distance I can see a stick on the ground with my geovids. I can see the moss on the stick with my ultravids (non plus). I can see bugs on the moss on the stick with ultravid plus. All on tripod of course.

I just need to see antlers thicker than a stick. Certainly a trade off but just need functionality.

I think you are right. I’ve heard this before. That’s why the geovids have a red tint when looking at the objective lens. No other model has that color.

Even the swaro rf binos didn’t have the sv coating.

There definitely is a reduction in light transmission for the rf bino, but they aren’t that far behind so will be better then most except the top of the top.

The number of elements makes a difference. Every element blocks some amount of light. In the Leica brand the 8 and 10 power have a certain number of elements (I forget the exact number). The 7 power has one less element which is why it’s noticeably brighter than the 8/10s. The geovid RF have at least one additional element that I know of. It’s the element the data is displayed on. There may be additional that I’m not aware of. Hence the geovids are noticeably darker.

How I do it- I glass off a tripod with 7x42s. Once I spot something worth going after I swap the ultravids for the geovids. I already know where the animal is at that point. I find that I spot more game with the ultravids. Brighter, sharper, better contrast, I can see in the dark. I know this seems excessive for some but this is what happens when you’re obsessed with finding the best optic. First step is admitting you have a problem 😂

My 10x32 NL’s are absolutely incredible. Wide field of view and field flattening glass makes this configuration very good. SF 10x32’s included.
I really hope they release 32mm Noctivids.

Crap, the wallet is not gonna like this.

Was Leica the one working on a center laser? I’d love to combine my rangefinder and “timber” binos but I don’t think I want to give up too much optically to get there.
