New arrow setup

Hey what’s up everyone.
I want to dabble in building my own arrows. Arrow choice will probably be a 340 gold tip kinetic kaos. The two bows I shoot are
Elite Omnia 60lb draw 27in
Elite Era 70lb draw 27in

Figure running a 100gr or 125gr broad head for hunting.
What inserts would you guys recommend to run? Do you recommend d a different arrow?

I would recommend a hidden insert (HIT). Easton makes a 16 gr aluminum and 50/75 gr brass version. Iron Will and Ethics make HIT's in other materials and weights.

As a point of comparison, below are spine and speed estimates for the following arrow out of both your bows:

Gold Tip Kinetic 340, 26" carbon-to-carbon, 125 gr broadhead + 16 gr HIT + 3 vanes at 7 gr each + 9 gr nock = 428 gr total weight

Omnia, 60# DW, 27" DL, 32" ATA, 6" BH, 347 fps IBO, 80% LO


Era, 70# DW, 27" DL, 31.25" ATA, 7.25" BH, 336 fps IBO, 80% LO

Based on those illustrations, it’s showing too stuff. Probably running a 400spine would be better? Or run 100gr broad head up front?

I’d go with a 340 spine, hit insert (choose weight for desired total weight), and a titanium collar for durability.

Substituting a 100gr BH for the 125gr would make it more stiff.

Add weight to the front or leave the arrow longer to decrease the dynamic spine.

Spine charts/calculators can only give you a rough idea based on rules of thumb, not an exact requirement for good arrow flight. Modern compound bows can be tuned to shoot well with arrows significantly stiffer or weaker than what the charts/calculators recommend. I would have no qualms about shooting a 340 or a 400 out of your bows, although I would probably err on the stiff side and choose 340.

Second for hit insert, I’d also run an iron will collar if you can
