I was just sent a few pictures of my 280 Ackley. Super excited to pick this one up.

It has been a little while since I have had a proper hunting rifle built and with a few awesome hunts in the works i needed the right rifle to take along.

Specs:

Remington 700 - Twisted Barrel Milled and Bolt Fluted older B prefix action
Manners Eh-3 Carbon Stock
HawkHill Barrel its between a 2-3 contour basically the lightest 7mm Shawn could make

I am super excited how this turned out. I was looking to cut weight in certain areas of the build but still end up with an extremely accurate rifle. Basically a great all around rifle, something i can take up Sheep Hunting or sit in a deer stand with and cover both extremes well.

I am fairly certain this build will deliver.

Joe Walls built the rifle for me, he is a top level PRS shooter, runs Homepage - OTM Tactical and is just opening up his custom gun building business. Nothing better than having one of your best buddies build your rifle. I

I will top the rifle off with an Nxs 2.5-10x42 scope and feed it 168g Berger Classics.

I am off to Wyoming Region G in 17 days.

No we are meeting today so i can pick it up.

I think ill be around 8lbs all up, the Nxs is 20ish oz. i will weigh everything tonight though.

Here was the other 280 Ackley he recently finished up. i am not super worried about the load, a 168 berger and some H-4831sc should shoot, but i will be spending alot of time at the range the next 2 weeks.

ill just get a speed and run it, wont put enough rounds down the tube to get it broken up and for it to speed up.

For sure it'll shoot, it just depends on how much you need to tune/pattern it for your hunting style. If you're talking a couple hundred yards yeah likely not a sweat. Patterning it farther out takes a bit more work which would what would stress me, but if you got the time sweet. Enjoy! :)

Running nosler brass or forming your own?

Nosler Brass

I see no problem once a load is chosen on taking it out the 1000 yards this week

Cool. :)

My range sessions are usually spread out due to limited areas/time, just projecting how stressed I would be but sounds like you are squared away. I love my 280AI.

What do you think of the Manners stock? I've contemplated getting one myself but can't find much feedback on them.

I really love the feel of the eh-3

I've owned a lot of different stocks

Mainly Mcmillan'sbut to me this stock fits me perfect and I love it

Only complaint is the tip does have a bit of flex, Joe bedded it so it won't touch or cause an issue but there is some forearm flex

Tom at manners used to ship out samples for you to try.

I've got three of them now and love them all. Running a EH1 on my main hunting gun and think it's great. My gunsmith originally recommended them due to all the issues he was seeing in McMillan stocks. Most of the guys that I know that shoot a lot (PRS type stuff) and don't use a chassis have all gone to Manners.
