By definition this is not archery.

As much as I respect what Jim has done, in the last 5 years or so he has no limit to what he'll support to get a sponsorship. Wish he would really think before supporting and giving rave reviews of everything and anything pushed his way.

This seems to close the gap from bow to rifle a little too much for me. I'll stick with either or.

Nothing about it is archery. Like playing golf with a potato launcher and setting the record for longest drive. Here is your trophy champ

We've lost track of the bow as the focus is more on the arrow. Seems that anything which propels an arrow has a chance at making it into archery seasons. This device is truly an arrow-gun and seems like the next logical step past the crossbow. Speaking of that...I can't help but wonder what the various crossbow manufacturers are thinking (and perhaps planning) in response to this development. They might not be happy to think that guys would drop their crossbows and run to an airbow if legalized. I think that's exactly what would happen though.

I won't be here to see it, but I have to wonder if hunting as I know it will even be recognizable in another 40 years.

Wow! What happened to bow hunting for the sake of the added challenge? Seams bow hunting is just a season extender
for firearms.
On a lighter note it will probably be banned because it looks like a mean old military assault rifle.

Agree whole heartedly.

I think it would a good option for people with severe disabilities to get out during archery season. Other than that it should only be allowed during an any weapon season.

I think it's a pretty cool advancement in technology, not hunting. As I stated in the other thread about it, it's quite a cool toy. Perhaps even a new "limited range" weapon for the disabled but it certainly isn't "archer". That said, let's be honest, who doesn't want to at least try one out?

I disagree with your first sentence but agree with the second.

It is not a good option for any archery season as the disability issue was the first step crossbows needed to enter mainstream archery season and this would follow a similar path. Besides the fact an air gun is not archery, motivated folks with disabilities presently have hunting opportunities.

Considering that crossbows have been around for thousands of years, perhaps we should take a closer look at compounds which came on the scene a little over 40 years ago. The crossbow analogy is stupid, and the hate is misdirected. They are a one-shot close range weapon, whereas a compound has a longer range, quicker follow-up shots and more proponents for its use. I've seen far more "hunters" take unethical shots with a compound than I ever have crossbow shooters, they understand their limitations a bit better. This coming from someone who ran an archery shop in a state where crossbows have been legal for a long time. It made no noticeable impact on archery harvests or deer numbers. 90% of my hunting is done with a recurve or longbow so I can hate on everyone else equally :)
