Some comparisons. I cannot physically measure any difference in the bearing surface length. The lines I marked are the .241 spot (like where it would touch the lands). These look pretty good to me. Increased aerodynamics almost all came from reshaping and elongating the nose of the bullet. Longer OAL for possibly longer wound channels, but shouldn’t give up much on the speed because of the same bearing surface length. Looking forward to testing them in the 6 PRC soon.

My calculator comes up with 1 inch less drift and 2 inches less drop at 600yd, 5kDA, 6mph wind, assuming both are going 2900fps.

Though after jumping through hoops trying to find qty 1000 108s recently, let alone the same lot, I may buy these next barrel just based on large package size and availability

Absolutely. I’ll take any edge I can get, as long as the accuracy is there as well. I also
Have 500 108 ELDM’s. But curious about these for sure. I should be shooting them around 3200+ fps

At 3200 are you worried about penetration?

I’ve been worried about adequate penetration my whole life brother 😎😎.

But in this case, nah not really lol.

I shot a buck frontal at 200 yards with a 108 EDLM going 3260 and it wrecked him. About 16” of violence. You can see the trauma continuing well behind the shoulder.

Good to know. I’ve been debating on turning my 243 into a 6mm prc

It is a 110 with plastic tip. I shoot the 109 ELDM and 110 A-tips in both my 6GT’s. Both are very accurate in my rifles.

I have examples of both handy I can take photos in the morning if anyone is interested.
I’d be interested in the side by side photos.

I’ve only seen the 109 ELDMs at GA Precision. Are they something made specially for them, or a new product from Hornady that’s coming online?

As far as I am aware George Gardner who works very closely with Hornady cooked these up as a cheaper alternative to the 110 a-tips specifically to run in the 6GT factory ammunition.

I do purchase mine directly from GAP but Midway had them listed for a short period.

They are nearly interchangeable with the a-tips out to about 800, beyond that the 110’s are more reliable.

I’ll snap some photos tomorrow!

The real question is what do wound channels look like on 109eld compared to 108eld at 2500-2000fps.

@PNWGATOR I recall you had poor experiences with 110 atips? Chalk it up to the a tip?

Paging @Formidilosus, any experience with 109 eld on game?
I only have experience with the 153 Atip on game. Inconsistently inconsistent wound channels and I do not recommend the 153 for hunting. Too bad as it’s an incredible bullet on paper and steel.

Probably can’t even tell them apart. But the 109 might possibly go a hair deeper.

I’ve heard too many hit and miss reports with A-tips also
