Nemo disco here... Pair it with my super down when it gets below 20 but it's packable. I am a side sleeper 6'2 190lbs
I like my big agnes anvil horn 0*
I like how the sleeping pad is captive on the bottom of the bag so I don't roll off. Temp rating might be a little optimistic - I had a big wool quilt on top and puffys on inside once the temps got below zero to stay toasty warm. Nice bag for the price though when on sale
.
Can you use the bag without putting your pad in that sleeve
Yes, most box store brands temp rating is lower limit (survival). Western Mountaineering, SG Chilkoot, Feathered Friends use comfort rating for their temp ratings.I learned this recently about sleeping bag ratings. The number is a survivability rating. In a 20 bag you will live at 20, but youre not going to be warm and toasty.
You read that wrong. The number given on bags is the LIMIT rating, which is the temp the average male can sleep comfortably. The COMFORT rating is usually 10-15 degrees above that, and is the temp that an average female can sleep comfortably. EXTREME rating on the label is the temp where you can curl up in a fetal position and still survive, but probably not sleep at all.I learned this recently about sleeping bag ratings.
