For those with experience wearing multiple brands of merino shirts....have you noticed different thicknesses between brands? For instance....I just bought a used FL merino shirt. It was advertised as a Llano QZ, which is 170 gram, but it feels much thicker than the Sitka Merino Zip-T, which is 210 gram (gram weights are according to brand websites). Has anyone noticed FL being thicker than other brands? Or did I buy a Chama (230 gram) or Chama EXP (400 gram)? It would be nice to have the model name on the shirt somewhere.

Thanks

I have a 150g ice breaker t-shirt and a 170g llano and they feel nearly identical.

Does your "llano" have a zippered sleeve pocket? If so, it's a Chama. At least that's what the FL people told me when I asked them similar questions when I bought a used llano.

It sure as hell does. Dang. I can't believe I didn't notice that after visiting the FL website a dozen times. Thanks for the help!

how do you like the icebreaker? im thinking about getting a light, mid and heavy weight bottom from them, then doing a llano and chama top for a full selection of baselayers.

The IB is without a doubt more comfortable than the FL llano.

I wore the llano this past week turkey hunting where it was 75 degrees in direct sunlight and as I began to sweat, the llano felt like it became "rougher".

I agree, the IB is some awesome stuff. If I'm not bow hunting, and sometimes even then, I wear my grey long sleeve. I believe mine is around 200 and does feel heavier than the llano but is more comfortable and as you mentioned, is significantly more comfortable than my Llano once wet, which is a new one in fusion, don't know if they've changed much in way of their fabric. Don't get me wrong the llano is pretty nice but the icebreaker stuff is like silk. I've also noticed the IB is the most resistant to stink and most durable, with my Kuiu 125 being the worst in both depts and the llano in the middle.

I've worn my IB t-shirt, over the course of 7-8 different days here at home, for probably 50 hours and the only thing the armpits smell like is my deodorant. I'm a heavy sweater so I was extremely impressed.

I just got the IB 200 gram merino shirt. It is nice! Silky smooth. I compared it side by side with a FL llano and it is softer and smoother. I'll be looking forward to wearing this IB shirt in Aug/Sep. FYI...the sizing is small! I got an XXL, which is still smaller than a FL XL.

Have been picking up some minus 33 t's on ebay for a lite weight , summer shirt. They are bright colors and the coolest for hot weather

How's the sleeve length on the IB compared to First Lite. I'm a knuckle dragger!

I don't have any experience with FL. Just with kuiu and IB. About the only good merino from kuiu that I've got was those cheap one time black merino 150 shirts they had. All the other either stink or are itchy. Even the ultra 125, I wear it once and it stretches out like crazy, I hate that. It just sits in my closet now. But all my icebreaker stuff is great, and most of it I've had for several years and it all still looks brand new.

The IB sleeves are "normal". The FL sleeves were longer than "normal", but it may have to do with the thumb loop design.

Ok I just watched several product videos and they didn't mention the weight of the FL gear. Can anyone give me the weights of the following?

Chama QZ (XL)
Llano LS QZ (XL)
Llano SS crew (XL)

Thanks!

I'm an idiot...was waiting for them to give it to me in ounces. Definitely need some coffee, thanks.
