I’ve got a .260 I had built on a scalloped, faceted, fluted and lightened Remmy 700 years ago. PacNor Rem sporter barrel. I’ve never been happy with it. Always been inconsistent and fickle. I’m tired of wasting components on it. Ready to yank the barrel off and start over. Want to bump up a contour too. It’s too light to shoot well. Need a recommendation for a gunsmith who will do the rebarrel AND do load development with copper bullets. I hate that part!

Shaen is not taking more work right now and Travis Redell (who has impressed me the most) won’t take an action somebody else has worked over (understandable).

Who else should I contact?

If you like Hammer Bullets I think they offer load development too.
They do? You mean they sell load development packs like Unknown Munitions, or they’ll actually take the rifle in hand and do specific load development for that rifle?

I'm pretty confident that they'll take your rifle and develop a load for you. You'll have to call them to confirm.

I'm following along to see if there's a market.

I quit taking work 10 years ago, but see the prices people are paying for the development portion and thinking I may need to get back in the game. Component availability is the killer for me.

I've considered doing it on a hobby basis to help people out but components are an issue and people in general are pain to deal with.

I was doing it for my hunt group, and it kept growing to where I had to stop. Not because folks didn't want to pay for the components, they couldn't get them and that meant eating up mine. No thanks.

I've tried to help a few people but it sucks arguing with folks about why their Rem SPS Vortex combo doesn't shoot tiny groups with mixed brass and cheapo bullets.
When I was building, I ran a zeiss vm 6-24 that was proven. I've seem SOOOOO many scope and mount failures that have been blamed on rifles that it was worth keeping one for shop I could count on.

It’s a Nightforce NXS compact on a rail in Farrell rings. The scope isn’t the problem. It’s also the third or fourth scope that has been on this gun and they’ve all shot similar mediocre groups.

As for paying for load up development, I know it sounds crazy. But for me, it’s at least a half day affair each time back-and-forth to the range. Time is money. I don’t mind reloading, once I know the ideal recipe, but I really do not enjoy the experimentation process. I find it frustrating and time-consuming when I would much rather be shooting for fun and/or hunting, or even working and earning more money!

I’d pay $500ish, but $675 for Hammer is getting up there. And worse yet, twice that for Unknown Munitions is just nuts!
