My wife and I each use the Thermarest Mondoking. She will actually backpackpack it into forest service cabins because she loves it so much. It's the best sleep I've had in the backcountry, and I'm always figuring out a way to make it fit due to weight/size restrictions of aircraft or machines. 100% recommend.

If you're sleeping on a cot, R rating less of a deal. If you are truck camping, then weight of your system doesn't really matter either. So would just go try some cots and see what fits you, and your sleeping style

Simmons Beauty Sleep. I have a ton of mattresses and pads and this one is the best of them all. It's huge but it does roll up and wife makes fun of my princess mattress but I sleep great. I bought it in 2017 and it's still going strong. It works equally well on the ground or on a big cot..

Plug for Camp Time Roll O Cot. Spent a week in September sleeping in the back of my F250. This cot design has no center leg design so it fits over the wheel well allowing the use of 2 in the bed if needed. Had a 3 inch memory foam pad on the cot and slept like at home. Cot folds up in a bag about 3’x8”x6” when not in use. Set up is quick as is takedown. Can store bags and boxes under it, nice to get up and be able to sit on the cot rather than rolling out on the floor. Bought a queen size 3” memory foam mattress topper off amazon, cut in half and made a cover out of an old sheet. Also used the pad to sleep on the deck of the boat when doing overnight offshore tuna trips, better sleep than a beanbag.

I’m a total tight ass and 90% of these replies are $200-300 +pads
I just bought two Therm-a-Rest basecamp’s for $30 each + $8 for shipping
72L x 26w x 2” thick R value 6
This is what I used in the past on a very wet cold moose hunt in a tent, and two sheep hunts , maybe other pads are better but I wouldn’t know
My charter boat has military surplus thermarest $18 68x20x1 for riding to and from grounds and naps
How did camping stuff get so expensive, insane!

Get a cot and a born outdoors bedroll. Solid combination!

Dang those things are pricey! They look like they would be good to throw onto a mule, but I am going to have to stick with the canvas bedroll.

Nearly 800 bucks for a 30-40° sleep system that weighs +/-16lbs seems excessive.

Understand that you're getting a bedroll, Thermarest, sheets, and quilt. It's the entire system. If you look at the breakdown on their site, it makes more sense.

The Thermarest Mondo King is a really warm and comfortable pad. Great choice for the OP.

I've seen some memory foam ones on Amazon that look nice, but I don't know how well those hold up over time.

They’re not as tough against scuffing as inflatable pads that are made for camping, but they are cheaper and way more comfortable, and with inflatables you’re about done once they get a hole. You could run a knife through the memory foam and it would still be serviceable. I have a Klymaloft, which is about the most comfortable inflatable pad available. The memory foam blows it away for comfort.

IF have room in your truck and not packing in (stock) then I sleep awesome on these 4" foam foldable mattresses. Just need to try to find one in the same width as your cot. I've got a twin size and a larger one, both of which are great. Just foam, so no durability issues and set up in 2 seconds. Do take up more space in truck bed.

If need smaller to fit in cargo space, etc., then the megemat has given me an awesome sleep also.
