I have a Zeiss v4 3-12, no complaints

This year I bought and used one of the Maven crs.1’s in 3-12 and it’s really nice for the money
I can’t speak to the nightforce in hunting situations but they are definitely heavy.

For a 223 the trijicon Huron would probably be awesome. I bought one and the glass was great but the eye box was tighter than I’d want with much recoil

Hmmm, that could work. What’s the difference between those two? Is the eye relief as bad as those specs indicate?

The only difference is the Huron has a basic bdc reticle and the ascent reticle has slightly more granular subtensions. That and the ascent has a flat finish I think.

I've never looked through one but I've read feedback on here from people that found the relief to be adequate.

The Zeiss has fixed parallax at 50 yards also? Supposed to be an air gun scope or something?
On the Zeiss website it does say it has a 50 yard parallax. I actually contacted Zeiss about this and they said that is wrong....This is what thay sent me:
Optical Performance
  • 3-12x magnification range
  • 44mm objective diameter produces bright images in low-light conditions
  • High-definition glass improves resolution and contrast
  • T* optical coatings increase brightness and resolution
  • Total transmission of light up to 90%
  • LotuTec water-repellent lens coating sheds water droplets, which can be removed without a trace
  • Wide field of view: 38-9.5' at 100 yards
  • Parallax-free at 100 yards

There’s No parralax adjustment on the 3-12x44 V4.

The Zeiss i was speaking of is the 4-16x44 sfp , moa under $1000 . Fits requested specs. Its been on a Tikka in Sportsmatch rings for about 3 years and works fine. I shoot about once a month not sure on round count.

I steered a buddy to the Huron too. For the money it’s a great scope, very typical in function and glass. For a stater, trainer the bdc can add value for stretching range a bit. If I recall it has too bdc options that should work for 223

What is a comparable scope to the Huron as far as glass goes?

A bit over mag, but the SWFA 5-20s are still on sale. $780 and $900 (illuminated).

The search is over folks. I talked him into an NXS compact. As long as his wife doesn’t find out, He’s happy. Had him shoot mine and he liked it.
Awesome 10x is really sufficient for most people I have one on order as well!
