Ok Roksliders, Eberlestock and Mystery Ranch are both running a site wide sale. I’m looking for a new pack and it looks like this might be my queue. I’m looking for opinions on one or the other or both. I really like that the Vapor 5k and the F1 Mainframe can be used independently of eachother if it’s just a matter of meat packing. It looks like the Metcalf might have a few more pockets for sorting and separating gear. Although I lean towards the Eberlestock, I don’t think I’ll be disappointed with either so what’s the Best Buy?

I prefer the Eberlestock over the Metcalf. but you have to buy the padded belt and shoulder harnesses to make it comfortable.

I gotta vote MR on this one. My Metcalf has been amazing. But I'm in GA and not quite hauling elk and muleys.

I ended up buying a MR Metcalf VERY lightly used off another fella on the forum here. My buddy has one also, but it's an older model. He's had his awhile. Mine served me well on my sheep hunt here in Wyoming. Night and day difference from my Killik.

I loved my MR for years and recently picked up a IA and it is so much more comfortable to carry. My body has definitely changed over the years so that probably factors in a bit. But I had some great years and great packs with the metcalf.

I have the MR Metcalf, and the eberlestock main frame. I use the main frame on shorter pack out’s. When I don’t want to get my hunting pack messy, but I have hauled heavy loads on both. The metcalf is a lot more comfortable with a load. It is my go to elk pack.
