I believe I have more than enough clearance. Same on both sides and increases as barrel tapers

I took the action off and reset it and torque it down to 55 inch pounds. These are the pictures after that.

Was at a range with Concrete benches, no wind, 50deg. I shot everything Lefty, same front rest, diff rear rest on RH (OEM Stock with Vert Grip) & LH (XLR Chassi)

Ok, looks like I learned a bit:
  1. Some of it was/is me
  2. Some of it was rifle float
  3. Some of it is "load is crap"
Here is what I ended up with, which seem a bit better than last time:

What I am seeing is:
  1. The DRT is just not a bullet I can shoot out of my rifles. No matter how "great" the bullet is, I just cannot get a load to group adequately, so I need to find another Non-Lead. I Am going to try a Factory 127 LRX and see how it groups out of those rifles (based on the Factory 140 doing as well as it did)
  2. The factory 140 ELDM shoot very well out of my rifle. My current Hand Load of the 140 ELDM is not ideal, but not horrible either. I may see if there is a "better" recipe with Varget, RL16, or H4350. The reason I used Hunter was that I have an 8lb jug and load a 168 TTSX for my sons 30-06, don't use it for anything else, so figured it'd be good for a "bulk" ammo load. I will go with this load (or better if I can find it by then) for my NRL Hunter event (Skills) in April.
  3. My Hammer Hunter load is a load I can use today in either rifle, so as this point it is my go to in California until I can get the LRX or something else.
  4. I shoot the Chassis better off the bench than I do the OEM stock.

If anyone has a "favorite" recipe for the 140 ELDM or 130 TMK out of Peterson Brass & CCI 200 or Lapua & CCI 400, and one of the powders listed, I'd be open to give it a try. I have a few hundred of the ELDM and TMK I can load.

Thanks again for all the help.

Using Lapua LRP brass, 42.5 gr of H4350, Federal 210's and 130 TMK's, I got good velocity and slightly over 1 moa. My 6.5 CM liked the 130 Berger VLD-H better than the 130 eld-m or TMK. They all shot decent, but the Bergers loaded to mag length are consistently sub moa and better ES/SD. I ended up reducing the load to 42 gr of H4350 to extend the life of the brass and not be anywhere near my rifle's max load. I lost 20FPS dropping .5 grain. Good luck

You need to try different powders.

I had an Accurate Ordnance .308 build years ago, the best I could get out of that gun with 175gr SMK and Varget was 1”-“1.250” @ 100 yards. I had a pound of H4895 sitting on the shelf and decided to give it a shot. That gun ended up being my favorite rifle for a long time. 1/4-1/2” groups were just another day at the range.

You may have gotten a bad rifle, YES Tikka makes a turd now and again, despite what the occult congregation says.

1. Bad gun from tikka
2. Bad shooter
3. Possible % Combo of two above
4. Whoever cut muzzle threads f'd the crown up

Some rifles are picky........
