My mountain goat points went from 15 to 0? Colorado G13! whoo hoo!

Part 2

Once the guy's got up there, lots of hi five and congrats, and astonishment at the enormous size of this goat. Over 300# we figured. we took lots of pics and then started the hard work.

The guy's
I absolutely couldn't have done this with out there help! I wouldn't have wanted to share it with anybody but these guys. I've been hunting with one or both of them since I was 12 years old. My best friend and my brother inlaw.

Went to work and skinned for a full body. Boned all the meat off and loaded the packs

It took us an hour to get back down the 347yd to where I shot from. ( thought of TJ the whole time. RIP brother. thanks for looking out for us.)

once down the cliffs it was a bit easier going. A look back up the cliff face that I climbed and shot from. You can actually see the goat at the base of the cliff ( tiny white dot) this was taken right after he piled up below the ledge. If you follow the light colored rock face down to where it hits the rock slide the goat is on the right edge.

A final look back at Ice mountain before we climbed up the ridge to camp

I shot the goat at 9:20 am. We rolled into camp at 6:00pm

Part 3

Took it easy and stayed the night. Head down to the truck in the morning

Here's a rough map of how the hunt unfolded.

Took the goat in for the mandatory check on Monday. They aged him at 12 1/2 years old. He had only 2 teeth left. no lowers and just the two on one side of the upper. 9 1/4" and 9 3/8", 5 1/2" bases. Oldest and the longest goat they've ever checked in at the Colorado springs office. We had half the office down there checking him out. LOL!

Again, I was very fortunate to harvest such a magnificent animal. I had a total of 5 billy's in the drainage that we could have chased. ( the 5th one I saw in the cliffs of West Apostle on the climb up to Gandolf). It was a great adventure to share with two of my best hunting buddies.

I couldn't have scripted the hunt any better. The weather was absolutely beautiful! The camaraderie was second to none! The adventure was amazing!

ENJOY!!!

Doing it right! really like the story, pics and the goat. That will be a tough hunt to top.

Thanks again guy's for all the congrats!

Still cant get over how old he was. Looked back in the stats and only a handful of goats have been killed in Colorado that were 12 years or older.(since 03) 9 goats to be exact and 8 of those were killed between 03-06. The 9th in 09. So he is one of the oldest goats killed in Colorado.

FYI, Looks like he's going to be 1" shy of B&C min.

Man! what a hunt! I'm still flying hi!
