My gear/pack layout from base layers to binos

In a snowy late season hunt how do you use the hestras for glassing etc where you need your fingers for longer periods of time than just a shot

I use mitts.

@Formidilosus

With Red Kettle seemingly ceasing production and sales of their Ventile line, do you have any backup options?

I saw this release from Patagonia the other day: https://www.patagonia.com/product/lightweight-waxed-cotton-jacket/26835.html?dwvar_26835_color=WNGY

Seems interesting but not the same.

I hope Redkettle is still around- there is nothing that I have seen that I like as much as much. The Patagonia is interesting, but as you said- not a substitute.

May be hope, they've got a Maintenance notice posted on the site now.

Guess I'll wait and see how things shake out while researching alternatives.

I'm really late to the RedKettle jacket game, and after finding out they're longer making their items, I searched "ventile cotton" and came up with this website: https://ventile.co.uk/

They list out several of their "partners" that appear to make some decent looking jackets and smocks with ventile cotton.

Hilltrek: https://hilltrek.co.uk/ (Braemar SV Smock & Ballater Lightweight Smock)
Brynje: https://www.brynjeusa.com/ (Explore Ventile® Men’s Jacket)
Sasta: https://sasta.com/ (Peski jacket)
Keela: https://keelaoutdoors.com/ (Ventile Heritage Smock)

Going to do some research and order a piece or two.

I have a hilltrek bealach smock coming. Hope to get it next week sometime.

Allows for more temp regulation, but heavier for an already-heavy piece ...

What says the Slide Mind?
Winner for me, I prefer a higher collar and love 1/4 or 1/2 zips. Wouldn't consider this piece if talking lightweight anyways.

Assuming it still has the elbow patches, I will probably pick the new one up for Lever-Action and Recurve hunts. Sand color works for where I hunt, but wish they were offering it in the Green color-way as well.

For those who were interested in the Snake Staff systems tourniquet, and hadn't signed up for their emails, and/or been confused about not being able to find them for sale, they've just released their ETQ Gen 2 ... although I only just looked it up, and both the regular and wide are already showing as sold out!

However, you can sign up for updates via their website: https://www.snakestaffsystems.com/buy-now
