A lot of us care if specific spots are mentioned and it doesn't matter who mentions them.
I've not seen Newberg mention a unit until after it's been blown up on monster muleys or some other forum by guys just wanting to stir things up. There are guys filing public info requests to find out where he's hunting.

Interesting...Name one state that has increased NR tag allocation in the last 5 yrs? From my research NR tags are capped in most states, CO aside, R licenses not so much. So yes the extra folks are residents, impossible in most states based on capped tag allocations for there to be more NRs.
In Idaho residents can no longer buy left over non resident tags. So while the non resident quota has not changed the number of non residents buying those tags has. The YouTube hunters, a few of whom do put out a nice product and seem like good guys, will say the same thing you have about non resident tag quotas. Then in the next breath they’ll mention there are no longer non resident tags left over.

I don’t know how else you get to the point of non resident tags selling out without more non residents. The same group will whine on a public video of how Idaho has changed their tag allocation system when their own business plan is based on new hunter recruitment and making it easy for people to find and apply for tags.

I also understand the argument about having a decent well spoken advocate for hunting and think it has merit. And I think that SOME of the above mentioned media hunters fit that description.

But the reduced hunting opportunity is real in several situations through harder draws, more non residents, and more residents including more “new” residents. Maybe that price is worth it for these quality advocates, I’m not sure.

If new guys can watch newberg and learn how to draw tags and hunt out west I'm all for it. The guys I see coming out here for the first time seem to a bit more appreciative for what they have vs the old guard and their "you assholes drew my tag" and "get the eff outto my area" attitudes.
Some of that is true and agreeable, but there’s also a flip side. I met a new guy 2 years ago who learned everything from watching Newberg except basic common sense in the woods (not saying it’s Newbergs fault). This city jack wagon from SF parked his SUV in the middle of a logging road on his first elk tag a mile from where I needed to get to set up base camp. I had to wait a few hours until I found him wondering around without a clue looking for elk and ripped him a new one to make him go back and get his rig off the road. Decked out with all the latest and greatest though! Seen countless CrossFit bros sky lining all over the ridge tops blowing deer out and camping in the middle of the World Wide Internet famous basins - right where all the game feed. I’d rather share the woods with 10 experienced hunters than 1 guy who needs a mentor for a solid 5 years before he gets out there, not just watching YouTube how to videos on drawing tags.

I know dumbasses that do all the same things you just mentioned but have hunted their entire life. Don't forget, you were new once too.

Let’s not even get started and all the ladies shooting their bows in booty shorts and a bikini tops that are basically not there and Muck boots because that’s how people do it.
You watch your mouth!

Haha.
That attitude never gets anywhere. Who's whining? Drawing attention to an issue and trying to form solutions is not whining.

They're Mormon not Christian lol. That's a cult invented in the 1800s my a 13 year old.
A bit of religious slander ought to get you a visit with the moderators. On day 1 at Rokslide. Good job!

And yes, I am adorable.

Congrats on knowing dumbasses. I’ve never left my rig in the middle of a two track at any age, let alone being 35 years old. You can’t tell me that’s normal.

Just so I understand your point. Your aurgument is that a tag that was never allocated for Rs to purchase when issued isn't left over anymore so you can't get 2 tags and the internet is blame.

My argument is that there are indeed more non residents buying tags and hunting in Idaho due to increased demand and popularity which is fueled probably in large part by all the how to and you can do this too media.

I will give you that one but overall, acting like people cant be new at something and unless they understand 100% of everything they shouldnt/cant try is unreasonable.

I think its more to do with Idahos lower tag prices and abundance of OTC tags, it's more of value to a NR who wants to hunt every year and not wait 3 or 4 yrs to get a tag. You better add your neighboring states tag prices to your list of reasons you can't get your 2nd tag. We can agree to disagree on this one.

While I fully agree with the premise of this thread, I’m tired of commenting on social media posts with my creeper account of these “influencers.” I’ve been polite in explaining what talking about specific areas is doing to all of our experiences and how laying out everything A to Z on obtaining tags in every draw of every state is reckless, look what’s happening to AZ OTC archery, Idaho, MT combo lic, etc. I’m going to save further discussion for in person at events or better yet at the trailhead where I know it’s just a matt

I will hunt Idaho within the next couple years for either deer or elk tbd. What are resident thoughts on wolves? I was going to pick up a tag just in case I see one. Do the residents want them gone? I hear a lot of chatter, but I've never actually heard the thoughts of anyone actually living in Idaho.

Yes, most of the hunters would not be opposed to you shooting 1 or 2, maybe even 3.

Yes. Double edge sword. I love watching others hunt on YouTube but hate the commercialization of hunting.

At what point are they killing game for subscribers and likes rather than the hunt? How much is each video with a kill shot worth in revenue?

We want them managed. Buy a tag or two, but chances of seeing them are slim to none. Wolf hunting is very difficult and time consuming. IDFG needs to cull them from a chopper. Hunters and trappers make a small dent in their population.

I quit watching any of it once I realized what it was doing to the hunting world. I will not support it.
THIS^^^^If you watch their channel they make money off you. The best way to make change is to not watch.

Waterfowlers had to put up with the “Duck Commander” generation of hunters. It was brutal and we know your pain.

Did it ever slow down?
I think it did slightly or maybe I’m just numb to it now. I do have the pleasure of having private property so I didn’t have to deal with it too often unless I wanted to hit the local WMA or lake. There was never really an issue of giving up spots as mentioned but mostly had to deal with hunters showing up right at shooting time and setting up 20-50 yards away (sometimes directly across🙄) and hunting your spread or “sky blasting” and educating birds.
