I have a detached garage and shed. This winter was baaaaaad. Lots of mice running around and chewing things i didn't want chewed(still need to check the motorcycle). Rat poison blocks weren't working or there were mice replacing mice. I resorted to small dishes of antifreeze, which seemed to work. Anywho, now that I think I have them knocked down, is there anything I can spray or throw in corners to keep them away? I know how to kill them but I'd rather repel them instead of kill them. Any solutions?

Little buggers... I just bought some of this stuff and threw six or seven packages in my camp trailer. Too early to tell if it works yet, but maybe somebody on here can chime in about it if they've tried it..

I haven't round anything that really works. Some say cinnamon, some say cayenne, Irish spring dish soap... I've tried a lot. Only thing that has worked for me is sealing it up. Steel wool in every hole, with spray foam or pl400 subfloor adhesive to hold it in place. They make a rodent repellent spray foam, but I'd still use steel wool.

I try to keep the doors closed anytime Im not going through it starting in the fall and all throughout winter. Actually immediately close after going in or out. Make sure the door weatherstripping is sealing all the way to the concrete. And if you have vinyl siding, stuff a ball of steel wool up into the bottom of each corner. They refuse to chew through it. I live in a thick woods, have an attached and a shed, and have had good luck as long as we follow these steps. Maybe 1 per season.

I have a cabin that was built in the 60s in a NF on a private inholding...I haven't found anything that works. Rf devices, sprays, ect...Hell they ate the bock of extra poison I keep under the sink to re bait the traps this winter. Good thing is they usually leave once it warms up.

Mice went through a 5 gallon bucket of poison where I work, in maybe 4 months, and I never saw a dead mouse. Not sure what that's all about.

She is an outdoor cat (fixed) and is ruthless on mice and chipmunks. She keeps squirrels away too but rarely kills them. I have not had a mouse problem since she showed up at our house one day. I think someone dumped her. She loves humans. I built her a house for the winter but she doesn’t like it when the weather is better. She likes an elevated spot to sleep.

I vote cat. About 15yrs ago I had a bad problem with mice in my garages and sheds. It was from raising pigeons for dog training. I picked up a barn cat that was fixed from my good friend. She cleaned up the mice in quick order. To this day we barely ever see a mouse in any of our garages and sheds. Unfortunately I getting her put down this week. She was hit by a car 5yrs ago and the arthritis is getting too bad now for her to even walk 5ft. She has lived a great life and will be missed. We are figuring she is around 18yrs old.

I found if you get a permanent cat smell in a small area, the mice will not even come close. We had a barn cat in our pole shed for 10 years or so but she died a few years back. She was a trained killer, mice, rats, squirrels, you name it, she killed it. Haven't seen any signs of any rodent since she died.

My property was pretty much a junk yard when we bought it. Place was over run with rats and snakes. I have since cleaned the property and that alone did wonders. I then set colony traps (same idea as bucket traps). It took almost two years but don't even see rats in the chicken area anymore. Neighbor also has 2 roaming barn cats. They help out and dont mess with chickens so I call it a win.

Clean up around buildings, nothing leaning against them or limbs on them. If you can a clean 10' area around will help.
