Mountain Warrior Vs. The Reckoning

There are both pros and cons each way, for me the pros of having it in my bag outweigh not but each of our pros and cons will differ. I never take my bladder out of my bag except for when I'm disinfecting it in the off season.

It takes up minimal space in any bag over 3000ci. I prefer to fill my bladder while it's in the pack and not mess around with removing it and I like it to hang so that the weight is placed higher on my frame and not sagging into a pocket.

You just changed my thoughts Tim -- the bladder has to "hang" rather than "sit." Getting rid of the internal pocket idea and going with a sling of sorts.

Anyone ever use the mountain warrior to pack meat or a dry bag between the bag and frame even though it doesn't have a meat shelf? Maybe you could rig a grab it to hold the bottom of the game/dry bag and then the compression straps of the MW bag to frame to keep the load in place against the frame?

I currently own the Mountain Warrior, Reckoning, AMR and Argali. (In the larger Kifaru packs, along with a bunch of smaller Kifaru packs.). There are things I love about each bag. The MW would be my favorite if it were a bit bigger. I LOVE the simplicity and the weight of the Argali. The AMR is a BEAST of a pack that goes nicely in to day pack mode and the Reckoning has a lot of the great features of all of these packs, but I'm not much of a "strap" guy. (Jury is still out for me on the Reckoning). You really cannot go wrong with any of these 4. It's all about the features that are important to you.
