Most over-rated Bourbon?

Not a troll. I like it. Maybe my taste isn’t as refined as some. I also like Belle Meade reserve.

I used to be a fan too. You're not alone!

Four Roses Bourbon is garbage.

Four Roses single barrel is the best $40 bourbon out there in my opinion.

I used to alternate between Four Roses SB & regular old George Dickel as my go tos. To my mind, either beat the pants off just about anything else.

I agree with MuleyFever. Just find one you like. I don't think most of those listed here are on lists of "best", so I'm not sure how they are "overrated". :D

True. By that standard, Jim Beam Maple Syrup Bourbon probably belongs at the top. Doesn't matter what its rating is, it's still over-rated.

I have settled on Makers Cask Strength. That is my go to and I can get it for $34 at our local Walmart. Hard to beat at that price and makes everything else overrated lol.

Its honestly hard to think of anything that would be more over rated than BT products, especially Blanton's. Even at retail of about $70 its hard to justify a 90 proof whiskey when much higher proof stuff is available for cheaper.

I did sample Elmer T. Lee recently and though it was pretty good. definitely would pick it up if found it for retail.

I agree with the Blanton's, it must be an acquired taste. I agree with above, Buff Trace doesn't do it for me but is modestly priced.

I am a fan of Wellers myself.

I've tried some of the high end 18-21 year old Scotches in bars and again, it must be an acquired taste as I'd just assume a good 12 year single malt.

A bar tender in DC gave my wife and I a taste of this one earlier this year. It was great but not $600 per bottle retail good.

To me, over rated is directly related to the price..... thee most over rated bourbon of all time is anything Pappy.... secondary market on a bottle of 15year is well over $1500, It is good, but nothing is worth that kind of cash.

If I'm honest, 90% of the allocated stuff isn't that great.

Maybe I have the pallet of a 11yo but if I could have a steady supply of Weller 12 or 107 at retail prices, I'd be a happy guy. Some of the EH Taylor is pretty damn good too.

Another vote for Blanton, I paid way too much for some and I didn’t mind it but it was not worth as much as it costs.

I have a hierarchy:
- Buffalo Trace if my wife is with me, because it's her favorite
- Four Roses Single Barrel OSBV
- Maker's Mark

Laugh all you want at the last one, enjoying MM means any bar I walk into anywhere in the country (and a lot of others) is going to have it. It never hurts to have a "Bud Light" equivalent of your favorite bourbon. :)

My go-to in that situation is Bulleit. It's tasty enough, and available in every bar in the USA.
