Most accurate best value 6.5 Creedmoor

I bought a savage 12FV cabelas model 6.5 creedmoor a couple years ago for $300. That is probably the most accurate gun we have. That thing just flat out shoots. I did replace the factory stock with a custom Boyd’s.

The 12FV I bought was the single most crap rifle I ever owned. I would have refused it from the start but I ordered it from Cabelas and the gun counter rejects wouldn't let me install the slide. Horribly rough and honestly the accuracy wasn't all that great. Our 20 year old Stevens 200 was far more accurate.

That was the end of Savage rifles and Cabelas for me.

CVA Scout 6.5CM

I paid $315 for this gun and it shoots at/under 1” with my 140 BT hand loads. Trigger is great, super compact and relatively lightweight. My full setup weights around 7.5# with a pocket knife, 7 bullets and a flashlight in the stock pouch.

Another nod for the Ruger American if you’re buying new. You might could find a used Tikka 6.5.

IMO you can’t go wrong with any of the 3 I listed.

Sweet little rifles. I just shot an elk with mine at 503. Knocked him flat. $330 rifle.

Have you looked at the Sauer 100? They are $569 a couple of places, and are objectively very good rifles. A way better choice on every front than a Ruger American.

Emotions do not tend to cloud reality for me. RA’s were what they were when $250- much like Savage/Stevens. At their present cost, they are simply a cheaply made action and trigger with a poorly designed, dressed up cheap stock, that costs too much.
On the flip side- the Sauer 100 is an excellent action, with an excellent trigger, an excellent barrel, a very good magazine, and a well designed stock- maybe the best designed stock of any common factory rifle.

As an example of my like for cheaper rifles- NEF/H&R Handi-Rifles were a neat, and legitimate option for lots of uses when they were sub $250. But at the usual $400-$500 that they go for now- no.

Agreed. I’d put a CVA Scout up against any NEF/H&R rifle though. I’m unsure why the prices for the aforementioned brands seem to keep going up. For $500 I’d rather have a Sauer or save up for a Tikka/Rem700 action build

The only single shot rifles I’d pay over $500 for would be Ruger #1’s or Winchester 1885’s, but it’s more of a nostalgic thing for me personally.

I can concede that point too. I do like the fen2 stick adjustability and I also like that it’s threaded.

But the $350 RA options were lots of bang for the buck.

That's crazy. My rifle has been amazing. shooting sub moa. We have killed a pile of animals with it. maybe I got lucky and found a gem, or maybe you were unlucky and got a lemon?

Have you seen any ejection issues with these? I have one that ejects empty brass at a pretty steep upward angle, I had issues with it hitting the windage knob on an RS1.2 and bouncing back in the chamber sometimes.

I have not. But, mostly have used SWFA 3-9’s on them.

I was unlucky. Those things have an amazing reputation. I was so disappointed.
