I refer back to my earlier comments about BHA..."If the core mission is good then ignore the noise".
What we need is a Privatize and Sell Off Public Land group that is 100% pro-gun. Yea
I'm going to quit my church because the guy serving donuts after the service is a jerk.
I need to change my religion to whatever you are if they have donuts

The best part of this thread was when someone implied that BHA leadership was going to make more money off the idea of public lands than people who want to privatize them would from resource extraction. Like that's the conspiracy we should all be worried about. Land Tawney making money off hipsters buying tee shirts.

That's about the best example of BHA Derangement Syndrome I've seen thus far.

Those pint nights must be really raking in the dough if Land Tawney's bottom line is starting to look better than the Koch brothers'.

Absolutely they could be. What's a contradiction is the response/backlash based on the facts we know. For one we have irrefutable proof of corruption, mishandling and misuse of org resources and money and one we don't. With that, one would think it would be obvious which organization gets criticized and held over the coals...except it's just the opposite.
fair to say but i wouldnt discount instinct and secondary connections. If someone surrounds themselves with folks from x ideology, theyre likely to be at the very least soft on that front.

At least on the BHA check and Tawney, Physiognomy checks never bounce

You mean you’re known by the company you keep?

Amazing how those Gods of the Copybook Headings keep returning over and over…

A grift is a grift, mate. That’s what I take exeption to; dangling a never-ending threat to something I care about over my head with one hand and holding out the other out asking for money to help end the threat.

Don’t start thinking of other republican-centric groups to try to play the whattabout game - they all do the same thing. Which is why I give my money only to individuals I know who actually get their hands dirty.

I'm not being sarcastic here, serious question. Help me understand where you're coming from with this first paragraph. Are you saying it is your opinion that BHA is maliciously exploiting a "neverending threat" just to pull money in? If so, what is your guess on how that money will be used? You can PM me if you don't want to go any further in an open thread.

There is a threat though. You know? Whether people are capitalizing on it or not is a different question.

But at best given the scenario you've presented there are two grifts going on. One is a very large scale grift where the grifters stand to benefit enormously and people who hunt/fish/whatever on public lands stand to lose big. And then there's a small-scale counter grift where people maybe make money off T-shirts (maybe) while raising awareness about not only public lands, but threats to predator hunting/trapping/access etc.

One of these grifts is not like the other.
