Moose hunting with 6PRC

Hello Rokslide,
This is my first post, hope I am getting this right.

I am just finished a Tikka 6PRC build and I am looking for advice on bullet selection and starting load information.
There is a Moose, Deer, and Wolf hunt waiting for me.

The build is as follows:
New SS 6.5 PRC, replaced the barrel with an Ace Tikka sporter profile 20" long with a 1:7.5 TW .236" 6 groove.
The reamer has the Wheeler butt, .277 neck and .158 freebore. [PTG reamer]
Rokstock, UM premier rings, Maven RS1.2 scope......


I am using ADG 6.5 PRC brass necked and turned to .015 wall.
My plan was using 115 NR dtac or 108 eldm. I have a variety of primers and powders available.

Most of the information I find on here on the 6PRC is for the 108 ELDM. Since the 115 NR DTAC is so popular in the 6UM, it seems like a good candidate for the PRC as well.

I would love to hear recommendations on bullet selection for the moose and load info.

Lots of winners there…

95 TMK, 103 ELDX, 95 SST, 108 ELDM are what I’ve killed with the most.

I’d pick what I want my max range to be, and what bullet/load the gun shoots best, and rock on.

I’ll be experimenting a bit with the Berger 115 VLD hunters this year out of a 6 Creed for a buddy at Berger who’s curious.

Don’t overlook the Barnes 112gr Match Burner. Behaves like a Berger, and is super lethal. Very high BC, .620 G1. Super affordable, and not picky for loading.

I may have to use the 108 ELDM or the 115 NR as I have them and some of these other bullets are not available locally. I have just over a week till I leave. [It took a couple of months to get my reamer and stock, so I am behind]

Please keep the suggestions coming and if you have good load starting points on the 108 or 115, I would like to see them.

You, Form and your giraffe are why I am asking what makes a NR work in a 6PRC besides a 6UM reamer!

It will work just fine.

I load the 108 or the 109 the same with n565. 115 you might try n570. Good luck on your hunt!
