Can you post pics of the grizz you shot with that rifle?I’ll say it….
That is the LAST thing I would wade into the alders with after a bear.
I 300 RUM’d a lotta critters. My latest grizzly rifle is a Kimber Montana 22 Creed with 88’s.
Bullets matter. Pick the bullet and impact velocity , then choose a cartridge that will achieve that.
Certainly will after I kill one. Tends to be more hunting than killing when it comes to grizzlies…Can you post pics of the grizz you shot with that rifle?
280 AI is my vote. Its punches above its pay-grade and is my favorite round.
For someone who shoots 50 rounds a year, 30 years on something that burns out barrels fast like a 22 Creed. Stretch that to 100 years on a 308 win.I’ve been reading about burning out barrels. For the average hunter that only goes once a year and puts 20-50 rounds through the gun a year, how big of a concern should that be? How many shots typically burn out the barrels from everyone’s experience?

I order online and have never had a problem finding ammo. Hornady, Federal, Nosler all make ammunition for them. My current favorite is the Federal Premium 168gr bergers. My gun seems to prefer them the most. My son has the Savage UL in 280 AI and it is less picky. He shoots it all sub moa 5 shot groupsHow hard is it to find the ammo? I had never heard of them until now.

I would do exactly what I am in the process of doing. Find a Win 70 action with the older style trigger and send it to Brown Precision and have him build you a 338 Win Mag Pro Hunter Elite rifle.
Don't like the 338 Win Mag? Then pick a different caliber but stick with Brown Precision and the Win 70 regardless.
Which camo pattern is that on the manners stock? I like it.Idc what ppl say im not taking a 6um for a brown bear hunt. I had a gun built last year for basically the exact same hunt, Alaskan moose/bear. .300 rum, Manners, bartlein steel, r700. Not the lightest and its not a t3x but im not going into brown bear country without it. Topped with an nx8 it ran me $4200.View attachment 980439
Thoughts? Since you asked, I think your nuts for wanting to carry a hunting rifle that weighs at least 11 poundsSo what does everyone think about this setup? I like the idea of having two barrels for one gun. I'm a little concerned about the weight for hunting. Thoughts?
- Best overall recommendation: Zermätt TL3 or SR3 action + TriggerTech Diamond + Proof CF prefit 280 AI (cerakote) + Zermätt Matterhorn.
- Expected carry weight: about 10–11 lb bare, ~11–12.5 lb scoped, depending on exact barrel length and optic.
