My setup right now is Easton Axis 340s with a 125 grain bh..440 grains total weight and.. Im shooting 288 fps

I am wanting to bump my weight up just a hair.. If i go to fmj 340s it will be 50 grains so that will slow me down to like 270fps

I could go with 100 grain bh and a 50 grain insert and up my arrow weight to 450 grains and still be at 284 ft or so..

What do you guys think.. If im shooting a good solid coc bh should i go heavier than 450 grains?

I'd agree 440 is right around my elk arrow and if it can up down a bull elk I don't see why it couldn't take down a moose. Place it right and you should be golden.

I hunt Canadian moose most years and always with a bow. Last few years my arrow weight has been around 380gr firing out at around 305-315 fps and I have had pass thru's out to 52 yards. Choose your shot placement carefully, I am partial to hold tight behind the front shoulder, and you'll be fine.

I would run the FMJ's with brass 50's and 100 gr. broadheads. Been there, done that and it's an awesome setup for heavy game. Not sure how far out your hunt is, but if you're cutting it close on time, your current setup will work fine. If you're planning ahead for a one-time moose hunt I'd gear up with the heavier artillery for a little peace of mind. Speed is probably not going to be real critical on a moose hunt - you'll probably be relatively close, and they're friggin huge! The heavier load will penetrate better for certain.
