My dad has vowed to go on his first archery elk hunt with me in 2017. While back in his prime he could run circles around anyone on the mountain, he will be 67 next year and does not have the backpacking gear to join me on my DIY hunts. He has done a lot of rifle hunting for elk, but this will be his attempt at a September bull.
We are tentatively looking at Montana as a meeting point because of the driving distance, although Wyoming might be a consideration also.
Not looking for anything too fancy, just a 2x1 guided hunt with accommodations (wall tent style would be fine), meals, etc and a decent opportunity to stick a bull.
I've been burned a few times cold calling outfitters, and just wanted to see if anyone has good experiences to share before I work the Google machine and make contact.
Thanks!
