I am having a new left handed Tikka re-barreled with a Bartlein. My gunsmith says in his experience, re-barreling a Tikka with a Bartlein, they will shoot as good or better than many $5,000 so called customer guns (with reloads) For $1,000 you can get a lot of gun these days.....

Dump those jokers ! You have been lied to more than once.

They don't take direct orders, but my dealer is canceling the order & I am moving to either a Tikka T3 (or T3x) Lite Stainless.

For the T3 X SUPERLIGHT anyway, if you do the upgrades to a T3 that the T3X comes with it is a pretty good bargain although I'm not sold on the T3X's recoil pad compared to a Limbsaver Gen 2 but in a light kicker it wouldn't make much difference The fluted barrel saves only 2-3 oz but it's a very nice looking barrel IMO and as long as they have the chambering I want I'd always go that direction for the little difference - It's worth mentioning that the T3X does not come with the Tikka factory rings either (not many really like them but now one is forced to look elsewhere - Mountain Tactical has a quality picatinny rail for a decent price and it's lightweight)

Update:

I have a tracking number and should have my rifle by Thursday. From what I have been told from higher up they had a large batch of parts that were not meeting their hardness requirements and that resulted in significant delays in their production process. Apparently rather inform the customer about the delays the customer service department was relaying the stage of production and quoting their normal production time for completion. It sounds like this has been addressed. I'm planning on shooting this weekend and will let you guys know how it goes.

I had a Tikka M695 rebarreled. When it was done I had the smith face off the action and add a recoil lug to it. Due to budget I had him mill a slot on the factory stock which I then roughed up and bedded the lug into. Plan is to eventually drop it into a custom stock but haven't gotten around to it yet (not that I have much to complain about on its current accuracy to expedite that change). Same could be done with a Tikka T3/T3x rebarrel as long as you weren't planning to use an aluminum bed block type stock in the future, a fiberglass one can just get milled out for bedding the lug.

My smith is always pleased with how true the tikka actions are from the factory, reduces the accuraizing work versus some other donor actions.

My understanding is I can't get the super light in a lefty. Pricing both a T3 & T3x.

Would look at a fluted barrel in the future when time to rebarrel. I will probably put the limbsaver on either one I get + have smith add a brake...still exploring which brake I'm going with.

How's it shoot? Any more experiences with MRC to share? I'm thinking about one....even after reading this thread.

It shoots well and I really like the trigger. My experience is probably the up there as far as horror stories go. It took about 50% longer to receive than I was quoted and getting any kind of useful update was a challenge. Then when I received the rifle the recoil pad started to separate after the first shot. My assumption is that the recoil pad bolt was over torqued and stripped so after the first shot cracked the glue it started to pull away.

The positive part of my story is that when I called them about the recoil pad issue. They were very apologetic and wanted to have it shipped back ASAP, but allowed me to finish out the hunting season before sending it back. I just got around to shipping it back two weeks ago and it's supposed to ship back this week.

I really like the trigger (I might have already mentioned this...) and didn't have any issues with it at the range or this past hunting season. If you're a lefty and/or looking for a more unique caliber I would anticipate it taking longer than projected. I'll update you guys on how the recoil pad replacement goes, but I'm not too worried.

Any update on the performance of the rifle? I've been contemplating a new rifle, ideally in CRF, and am somewhat hesitant after reading this thread - and seeing that there aren't many rifles out there (if any - especially the Xtreme Elite), other than one dealer on GB.

I've been seeing Montana Rifle's listed on Gunbroker selling with an included safari hunt. Link

If I had the funds for a trip over I'd be tempted to buy it, only $1335 shipped for a 308 Extreme X2.

I saw those listings too (that seller was the one I was referencing in my post) - I think they have 56 rifles but I only found 3 on wiki arms. Only 2 of those are the Elite model (I'm looking for threaded - maybe in 30 Nosler, or if they add it to the lineup, the 300 PRC). The safari is of interest, as I'm in the early stages of considering an African hunting trip.

Expensive investment cast (ala Ruger M77) heavy receiver. Tried to order an action for a build a couple of years ago, got the run around including being called a liar from the used car salesman dude that answered the phone. Would not honor the list price! Told him to shove it. Found a Winchester 70LH used for less money.

There is a brand new LH MRC on Alaskaslist right now in .264WM for $1500. Looks like it has a comp stock.

I was told that Nosler bought the company last year. Don’t know how true that is. If so I’d imagine the CS was brought under control Ricky Tick.

I saw that too.....I think they know people wouldn't go over to Africa just for the species they are giving you. It's like the Mexican restaurant giving you water and chips.

Or the dove hunts "won" in a charity auction that is free - except for the shells..... Not throwing stones. I've done that. Twice.
