i bought boots from them. okay boots. pretty burly.

put me on their mailing list. i just got the catalog. holy crap. one thing to the next is more expensive than the other!! $700 dollar hunting knives..$750 cowboy boots.. $239 wool pants.

got me thinking..what does the store look like? i envision a store like Orvis.

i do want a SG pack one day...next time i am in Bozeman..i am dropping in to say.."hey. what's up?"

anyone ever seen the store?

I really like Schnee's...you probably won't be interested in all parts of the store equally, but they've got a lot of awesome mounts, a pretty cool gun library, and the Stone Glacier stuff is all out for you to look at/play with. The guys there are all really nice--good friendly atmosphere when you walk in. Some serious hunters too.

I was just there this weekend. Its a decent store, they have a lot of casual like western wear. Lots and lots of shoes. There hunting/outdoor gear is somewhat limited. And yes the Stone Glaciers are there to play with, I looked them over for quite a while and even loaded one up with all of my gear. Very friendly staff. I think the store used to be Powderhorn but im not sure.

I like the downtown store better than the factory store on 19th. They have a MONSTER elk in there that I go in to look at every time i walk past. It has like 23 inch 4ths... insane

+1,

The downtown store has some nice mounts, even has a Lion in there you can check out. I personally only go in there for the boots, running shoes, and SG packs. Everything else does not appeal to me and is way to expensive for my tastes. The staff is very friendly when trying on boots and packs, especially if they know your going to actually buy the item.

Like Joe and Brewer said, there's two stores. The downtown store is definitely geared toward the rich tourists and Yellowstone Club(private millionaires-only golf course and ski hill) in the apparel selections. Expensive clothes like you saw in the catalog. But I will say it seems less geared toward the rich guys than the Powderhorn was. Schee's had its own store downtown that was definitely a shoe store with a good reputation. When you walked it, there were usually 5 or 6 people working in the store and most were with customers. I'm not sure if the Powderhorn and Schee's were always the same company or if the merged when they merged downtown stores. But once they merged, it was a much better shopping experience. Its funny, they sell some really cheap-o stuff too. Like the Coughlins camping stuff. It's a pretty nice store. Wood floors, ect. They had a sheep mounted as you went back into the gun cave which is where you find they're hunting clothes too(all Sitka). It was just standing on the floor and it was so tough to not reach out and pet it. It looked so soft. I'm sure that's why its not there anymore. I've found the shoe department to be pretty knowledgeable, but it seems hit or miss if someone in hunting knows much about the SG packs. I can try to snap a pic or two next time I'm downtown to give you and idea.

The other store is not as busy and feels empty kind of. Its very spacious. They have a token selection of non-shoe items.

I go in there when ever I'm in bozeman. Nice staff that like to talk hunting. I will say every time I've been in there no one really has a clue on the SG packs. I seem to know more about it than they do, they always say the one guy who knows those packs inside and out is off on the particular day I'm in there (forget his name)

I'll definitely stop to see the store next time I get into town. I get the catalog and my wife says don't bother that stuff is out of your league. There's a reason they call it Bozeangelas.
