Montana Draw Results Are Out

I've had my NR deer combo tag for a few weeks. Didn't draw the special deer permit, but that was expected, 14 points now.

Dad drew a rifle breaks elk permit.

Montana is the most convoluted system there is. Makes as much sense as there deer season dates

My dad just moved here from Oregon I’ve been resident going on about 12 years his first go at the draw it’s a real pain trying to explain that you didn’t draw a deer tag but can still hunt all the stuff I hunt lol

It means you drew a general tag that some gave back because they didn’t draw the permit they wanted and didn’t want the general tag.

Yeah same with me. Had 1 point and was unsuccessful. Real gut punch. I guess my first elk hunt will be otc Colorado. I guess on the bright side it’s closer, cheaper, and no grizzlies to worry about.

Im a first year Montana resident. Put in for some permits in the breaks, unsuccessful. I’m new to western big game hunting, so it’s probably for the best. I’ll stay close to home on some day hunts this year and try to learn as much as I can.
