Has anyone done this before? I have searched for pics all over the web and here but can't find when anyone has done it. With rokslides help I emailed NTcolorado to see if they could do it and what the ballpark price would be. I would like to attempt it myself but don't have a machine or sewing experience. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

I think it's a bad idea, you would probably have to sew through the foam which would smash it down quite a bit. Either that or pull the belt most of the way apart and then put it back together then.
what are you trying to mount that won't work with the 1.5" strap? that should work for anything at least 80% as well as PALS webbing.

You could put a PALS sleeve over the belt but with the strap running across the middle of the belt it might block most attachments, seems easier just to mount to the strap and use the velcro on the back to keep stuff from moving around?

The main thing I'm trying to accomplish is mounting a holster. Currently I can't get the 1 1/2" belt tight enough no matter how many times I try and it causes the holster to slide on the belt. With the Kifaru thread about mounting the holster recently it got me thinking that that would be a better way to keep my holster secure.

I got an email back from native textiles saying he would have to sew it to the foam like mentioned above.

The way I understand it there is velcro on the back of the 1.5" belt webbing right? Can you either add corresponding velcro to the holster OR put a sleeve that is slightly larger than 1.5" over the belt that has velcro in it (to fix it in place) and put some PALS on the front/back of that (or any other slots that work with your holster) to keep it from sliding for/aft on the belt?

I hated that there was not pals on the belt for the Exo... I also couldn't get a holster to really mount up well.. Never did find a resolution...

My new gunfighters holster is sitting in the mailbox at home, I'll have to see how it will work on my exo. I was planning on using some velcro to keep it in place

Here is what I was trying to describe earlier (pardon the fast sketch), if you run a holster that clips to a 1.5" belt you could just add a sleeve (with velcro on the inside to hold it in place) around the strap and then have PALS (or other spaced webbing) on the back of it that the holster clips go through to hold it from moving around on the belt. Just a thought.

If you get it rigged up and it holds your sidearm secure could you post pics or could we meet up and I could see it in person? I live in Redmond, Wa.

Thanks,

Chris

I don't have an EXO so I can't try it, but why wouldn't an IWB holster mounted with the strap outside the gun/holster be secure? seems like it would be even more secure then PALS attachment.

Absolutely. I mounted it last night, and due to how the exo waist belt is designed, it is hard to get it tight. I will pick up some velcro today to see if that helps keep it in place. Next step is to go to the chest rig if this doesn't work, but I was hoping to save that real-estate for my binos

Edit: Also I will be running this rig on a hike this weekend so I should have some good experience on how secure it is

Pretty much where I am at as well... looking at this holster:

Hoping this will work out well with and FHF harness.

Ok, so I used a gunfighter holster this weekend and loved it hiking attached to my exo belt. What I did is attach straps of velcro on each holster belt loop to interface with the velcro that was already sewed to the belt. I also made sure and tightened that portion of the belt a bit extra tight, so when you put the pack on and tightened the main adjustment, the holster was on snug. The only thing I didn't care for, was removing the holster to transfer to a regular belt is kind if a pain, and if you use a fabric belt the velcro tears it up a bit.

I did something similar when I added a pouch to my Exo belt. The velcro strip helps hold it in place just fine.
