Hey guys, what's the best way to get rid of moles in the yard? I have an infestation near my house that goes under sidewalks and is generally just causing a ton of problems. I have 4 dogs that go out several times per day, so harsh poisons are not an option. Please advise...

poison gas capsules that you lite a fuse to use...and using them properly. Walk the dogs if they go out right after use. Moles are asleep right after dawn, the best time to gas them. Traps require knowledge that most folks do not have or are willing to acquire over time.

If you're going to trap them target main tunnels. They are usually straighter and used more frequently. Feeding runs are more random and crooked and may never be used by the mole again after that first time digging them. Good Luck!

Most CooPs have a poison that will kill all the worms and grubs in your yard
When you eliminate their food they leave
Most grub treatments take a season or two of reapplication to build up in the soil enough to be effective. They are a great method of control but not an immediate solution. And the poison peanuts and worms may work as well but you run the risk of unintended targets getting the bait. Plus the fact that moles hunt by sound and vibration - these baits don't move or wiggle so you're pretty much just hoping that a mole crawls over it and decides to eat it. Trapping is by far the best method for immediate mole reduction.

I've been sitting watching mole tunnels and see the dirt starting to move where they are bringing it to the surface. A quick dig with the shovel and I have caught myself a few live moles . They don't live for long though.

I am surprised at how clean they are especially here in this red clay.

poison smoke bombs done correctly is the first thing to try. every customer whose yard I have done with those the moles go bye-bye....I can do an average size yard here in an hour. e-z $.

I used a trap. Find a ytube video that shows how to find the tunnels they're using. Basically you poke holes in the tunnels and see which ones they close back up because they don't like light. I found the process kind of fun. It was kind of like hunting them.

Wish I knew that when I had mine! I was bill Murray, neighbors all chuckled as they walked by.

I used the hideous spring loaded spikes thing positioned where I dropped the food poison. Then I crushed the nearest hole on the tunnel. Took some time , but a year later that were at my neighbors!

So I had a full on Bill Murray scale battle over a period of 2 years. Killed lots with different taps and techniques but still the battle raged on. Then one morning I snapped. Pulled the Ducati into the back yard (no cat, straight pipe) plumbed the exhaust into a main line with a section of silicone hose, started the bike and let it idle for 45 minutes. Never another problem after.

Not sure which one you use but the one I used worked after the first rain
Within a month I had no moles

Cats: easiest method but being a cat they work on their own schedule

Traps: I've had best success with the Gophinator much better than any Victor trap. Recommended by 13 yo boy who traps gophers in his neighborhood as a summer job. I would like to try the GopherHawk and the Nash Choker loop

My nephew made a Rodenator and while I cannot verify it's effectiveness it is the most satisfying method if you don't mind doing a Caddyshack on your yard
