I had seen Luke and Becca's baby sales. Congratulations on being at least temporarily attractive Luke. No inquiries will be made as to how much alcohol was required. Now you're selling your stuff to purchase other stuff.

That brought something to mind. I had just packed up a bunch of outgrown kids' outdoor gear to ship off to someone about two weeks ago. Our friends' kids are older than ours and sometimes we have difficulty finding people with kids who can use decent outdoor clothes and gear where it won't just go to a soccer game and campouts in a living room.

You may understand the concept that kids continue to grow, but I'm telling you that it's mind boggling. It seems like you're lucky if they don't outgrow their hiking boots before the trip is over and those little capilene base layers, snow pants, fleeces and mini sleeping bags can be expensive. Don't even get me started on decent mittens that disappear and reappear like socks in the drier.

Now, for the most part, our family is where gear goes to die. But there are still some odd pieces that survive in good condition, somehow...probably because it went through a time warp in the drier or some kid grew six inches in a week. We would like to see those bits of gear go be put to the test somewhere other than the suburbs. I've created a few threads on another site and offered stuff up for free to just see it go to good use. It's small enough stuff that I'm not looking to sell it in classifieds. I'd rather just send it to someone and ask them to pay it forward somewhere down the road.

I don't think that I'm the only guy who's happy getting a warm fuzzy from doing something to help a kid enjoy the outdoors while getting more outgrown stuff out of my house.

So, maybe put up a Classifieds Sticky or sub forum where people can offer up outgrown kids' gear for other Roksliders' kids?

This could be a timely idea for you guys.

that's a good idea. We do something like that in soccer where you can donate goalie gloves or cleats, when they are little they grow out of stuff before they can wear it out ! I have some kids camo gloves and pants that have a lot of life left in them

When our next purge comes around, if we have stuff that isn't claimed, I will certainly post something up here, or if a sub forum is created, there.

Congrats Clarktar. Good timing and birthing management. Remember you guys...careful with that Thanksgiving through and past New Year's to Valentine's Day time frame.

Kids' birthdays during elk season are problematic. If you're playing for keeps, chase the wife around between the Memorial Day and the start of elk season. Between Thanksgiving and Valentine's, always wear Fall Protection.

I have a 11 year old that wears size 11 in men's and medium men's out door clothing. Wish I still got to shop in the kid section.

That's a great idea, with a 4 yr old and a 10 month old I am always struggling with the growth spurts and I am sure they are going to get worse!
All about kids clothes getting payed forward, we were lucky to be the last of our crew to have kids so we got bags of baby clothes and now they are going to brother in laws, nice to see them get used!

I do this exact process with a good friend of mine. My daughters are 12 and 10 and when we are done with gear and clothes it gets packed and sent to my buddy for his girls that re 6 and 4.

Love this idea. We do this with several friends for general clothing. But none of them have clothes for hunting use

Just now seeing this!!! Cool idea no doubt!!

I will talk to Mr. Avery when his life slows down from hunting some to see if he can get something like that setup!
