Moccasins?

To the OP, take a look at these. I wear them year round. They're kind of like a mix between a modern moccasin, heavy boots, and barefoot shoes. I will say, the break in period hurts super bad and you have to leave them a little bit loose. They arent as quiet as socks or bare feet but are WAY better than normal boots. If you're not a big barefoot guy then this is a great stepping stone to toughen up your feet before going to true moccasins.

Did you have a pattern you used? I was going to make something similar but am waiting on my remaining pelt to come back from the taxidermist.
The only pattern I used is my foot! I pretty much fit to my foot and trim as I go to get the desired fit. So far they are holding up really well, I wear them around town quite a bit and they have been surprisingly durable. I can give you some more details and what Im going to change on my next pair if youre interested. Shoot me a DM.

I wore a lot of elkhide moccasins in the 70s. A little soggy in the rain, kindof slippery on the rocky steep slopes, and not an option in the prickly pear cactus.
