Mo Powder = Mo Recoil?

Been comparing 6.5cm/6cm/243 for a really lightweight hunting rifle so recoil is of a concern to be able to spot impacts.

Looking at reloading data I’ve noticed that when using H4350, the amount of powder each chambering uses is within a grain or so when shooting like sized bullets.

Example: min change 243 with 95 nosler is 39. Min charge on a 6.5cm with 100 is 39.9. Assuming same rifle weight, is the smaller chamberings (243/6cm) really going to produce any less recoil than a 6.5cm with similar grain weight bullet?

The difference comes when you compare a 140 in a 6.5 to a 105 in a 6 OR from the fact that a 100 in a 6.5 will get more velocity than a 100 in a 6 at same pressures.

Typically you want to be shooting one of the heavier for caliber bullets so like WG said, the recoils difference comes from 108 compared to 140 or 147 gr bullets. If you want to shoot the smaller bullets then go with the 6mm/.243

My 243 feels like it recoils more than my Tikka 6.5cm. The 243 is at least a couple of pounds heavier also. The muzzle blast is more for sure. Tikka is a Superlite for comparison.

243 runs 39gr of H4350 with 105 Amax. 6.5CM is 41.5 H4350 with a 140 HPBT.

Not sure why that is, but either are very shootable.

Does the 243 have a poor stock design that makes the felt recoil feel like it’s more?
